Ex heat coach Troy ward got hired on for Utica; he's Travis greens replacement.

Willie should be replaced by Travis Green - done so much with so very little in Utica.

Source?

Hadn't heard that yet. I'm not sure I like all the ex-Flames influence Weisbrod is having here. Not everything he did in Calgary was good, if it was he'd still have a job there...

If I recall Troy Ward's name was mentioned on team 1040s Pratt and Bro Jake show. Then again everything is pure speculation at the moment.

Travis Green deserves a shot in the NHL.

I heard he was rumored as a possible replacement. Never heard anything about him actually getting hired.

He wasn't hired, just a hot rumour as a Green's  replacement if Green was hired elsewhere. All Green said was he felt he was ready to coach in the NHL.

Wasn't WD the top AHL coach and won a calder with Texas?  Why is everything making a big deal about Travis Green and not losing him?  Doubt Canucks get in the way of an NHL opportunity for Green.

WD was the most sought after coach and we got him and now fans care more about Green and want WD gone lol

i think it's more to do with the relationship he has with some of our young guys and his ability to get the most out of them.

It's a familiarity thing more than anything. Players who have been coached by him will know exactly what to expect so in theory the transition for them at the next level would be easier.

There are more young guys on the Canucks roster that have only been with Willie than there are quality young guys in Utica that will make an NHL impact. Hutton, McCann, Virtanen, Horvat, Tryamkin have never played under Green. Who do see from Utica making a similar NHL impact that would make Green a better choice than the relationship Willie has with those five I named?

Those thinking Willie be be fired to bring Green up are dreaming.

Well I said after next season so he would potentially have a whole season with guys like Demko, McCann, Stecher, and Neill.

Also Horvat, Hutton, and Virtanen have all played for Green even if it was for a small amount of time. Virtanen spent the most time with him since he was a part of the comets run last year. Green's assessment of his game going into the summer was likely a big part of what he would have worked on to take the next step.

Beyond that Baertschi and Markstrom took huge strides under Green. Next season Gaunce, Zalewski, Pedan, Kenins and Grenier could all make the jump. In the future call ups could include Subban, Cassels, Friesen, and Labate.

Don't forget Green spends alot of time in camp with all our young players and is a big part of helping them identify what they need to work on. He's watched alot of these guys over the last couple years and knows where their game needs improvements.

I hope he doesn't get poached from us... Even though I think keeping Willie on for the rest of his contract is the right move, it would be a shame if we lost him before next fall.

I agree with this. I'm fine with keeping Willie and I still think he's the guy for the job, but I wouldn't want to lose Green either,
