[Rumour] Drake Caggiula: Canucks, Oilers Front Runners

Recommended Posts

It appears NCAA prospect Drake Caggiula may sign a contract with a Canadian NHL team, according to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie. McKenzie says the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers are believed to be the front-runners for his services.

It's believed VAN and EDM may be frontrunners in that but we shall see. OTT also had interest.

One of the U.S.-based NHL teams interested in college UFA Drake Caggiula (UND) has been informed the player is going to a team in CAN.

The 21-year-old forward has played with the University of North Dakota for the past four seasons and posted 25 goals with 26 assists for 51 points over 39 games in 2015-16.

The undrafted Caggiula is a hot commodity after putting up great numbers during this year's Frozen Four tournament in Tampa Bay. The native of Pickering, Ont. won the Frozen Four's most outstanding player award after netting four goals and one assist in two games, including two tallies in the championship final.

North Dakota topped Quinnipiac 5-1 to capture their first national championship since 2000.
