IBacon Strips
All the trades lately revolve around the same things and it's getting boring to read. The Canucks are building well and want another shot at the cup with the Sedins. It appears our young, skilled, and fast forwards are becoming a realistic option to surround the Sedins to take that run in 17-18 or 18-19. This draft, and possibly next, is going to add to that promise, but the one thing we won't be able to find in that time is a #1 defenseman who can log the minutes and put up points (sorry Tanev). The New York Rangers probably have this upcoming season to salvage a last ditch playoff run before their time is up. Their defense is a borderline mess with little depth. Frankly they have pretty much no prospects anywhere and very little as far as draft picks go this year. Lundquist is starting to show his age and will likely drop significantly over the next year or two, again they have no replacement here either. This trade is proposed to happen at the deadline if the rangers are completely done or in the following off season. To NYR: Alex Edler (yea we all know about his NTC, but he has stated that he wouldn't like to play for a team that doesn't want him) Jared McCann Andrey Pedan Michael Garteig rights (if he becomes an usable asset) or a 2017 4th Columbus's conditional 2nd round pick To Vancouver: Ryan McDonagh Any low value bottom 6, minor leaguer, or contract they need to throw back. This gets Vancouver their defenseman for the final run and successful years to follow. New York gets a serviceable top 3 defenseman to ease the transition, 2-3 good/great prospects, and a second rounder that they will desperately need at this time. The salary of edler and mcdonagh are close to equal and mccann+pedan will still be very cheap at the time for those concerned with the cap. Would this be a realistic trade? Would this be a fair value trade? If not, what needs changing? Would you want this trade to happen?
ChampStatus
What makes New York Rangers want to trade there Captain? New york is looking to sign a whole lot of players this off season. They are losing 5 UFA's and Have to sign 4 RFA's with only around $17m to trade. Even if it was a straight trade Edler for McDonagh. McDonagh is getting $4.7m/y and Edler is getting $5m/y seems like a poor cap strategy. In this trade the Canucks would also have to eat contract. The Canucks need to add D-Man why are we trading two of them and only getting one back? The Canucks have no goalie prospects beside Demko why are we trading Michael Garteig. Why are we trading away a high 2nd round pick that might as-well be a 1st round pick. I know that it might not be this years pick might be next years as well. Toews
How is this supposed to make New York a contender in the short term?
Top_Shelf
I want whatever you're drinking. By the way your entire proposal is a borderline mess.
SaintPatrick33
McDonagh is not a true stud like doughty, a notch down. This guy cant work a power play either so whats the point? Everyone wants to trade McCann, let the kid build some muscle first then lets see what he can do. If you think McDonagh is gonna lift us to a playoff spot, you must not watch hockey. BI3KSA-
People seem to fixate on value and almost never consider what needs each team has. This makes no sense for NY.
Nuxfanabroad
Recently suggested going after Nash(but he'd better be cheap). Bet the Rags would like to dump his 7.4 mill. Only 2 more yrs though. Like to see Nash with the twins.

Once reality sets in you will realize this and look back at this proposal and laugh.
Monty
"Hey Rangers, you know how the only two good defensemen you have are McDonagh and Yandle? And you know how Yandle will be going to free agency because you don't have the cap space to extend him? Well, how about you trade your last good defenseman for a worse defenseman, so you can roll with "One-Eyed" Staal, "Worst Contract for Corsi" Girardi, and "Bad Back" Edler? Sounds too good to be true, right?"
