Canucks 23 and under team

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a great day today! I understand a lot of us can't wait for draft day but I wanted to get everyone's opinions on something else. Team North America in the World Cup of hockey will be a 23 and under squad so I just wanted to know what your Canucks 23 and under squad would look like. The rules are...

1) you can only use players in the Canucks organization currently, this is including prospects

2) obviously players must be 23 and under

3) you can use current rfa if u think they will get resigned

4) you are not allowed to use draft picks from this years draft

have fun!!!

mine would be...

baertschi horvat Virtanen

gaunce McCann boeser

Zhukenov cassels etem

gaudette granlund jasek

Hutton tryamkin

pedan subban

olsen Brisebois

demko

If we include this year's first round pick, likely to be Tkachuk or Dubois, the Canuck 23 and under team might actually be better than the over-23 team. (Okay, that is a slight exaggeration, but only slight. Don't forget that Horvat and Baertschi outscored and outplayed the Sedins in the second half of last season, and obviously are trending in a different direction.)

Your team is not bad, but Zalewksi (still 23) is significantly ahead of Cassels at 3C. Actually, I would move Granlund to 3C and have Zalewski at 4C.  And I would swap Virtanen and Boeser, and put Tkachuk or Dubois in at 3LW.

That would not be a bad-looking team.

I'm partial to Speyside myself.  Knockando was always a favorite.

You're an Island boy alright if your main backstop is Yucky Lager B)

Knockando is amazing, McCallam and Aberlour are also awesome speysides.

Go easy on lucky- low cap hit, is consistent and gets the job done. Nothing flashy, but a winner.

What no place for Guiness on the back end?  Leads every league in penalty minutes.

Guiness was my 7th D because he's too heavy and skates like crap, dude really only plays well in mid March anyways.

The 3rd line will get enough PIM and are a fiesty bunch as is, but considering the soft 3rd pairing of Heiny-Stella, I'm fine with rotating Stella out for Business, especially against West teams.

Stella's like my Yanick Weber, only difference is my wife likes Stella..

Screw it, Guiness it is.

That fourth line looks like it would make the team hungry for success.

That, and they're really good in the locker room. Calm everyone down, help the guys see the bigger picture, while still doing a helluva job getting' er done...

They're also really good at slowing down the opposition, they're my shut down line. The rest of the team's already full loaded

Maybe Stecher in for Briesbois? If JB can get one more guy in there like Barrie the future starts to look pretty good.

I was thinking the same thing and almost edited my post. You right. Being one of the best D's in the NCAA (Stecher) definitely trumps being a good D in the Q. Of course Brisbois is younger and might overtake Stecher, but right now Stecher has to be the better player.

Why 23?

Guys like Tanev and Markstrom are still part of the "young core".

but yeah obviously Bo is the leader, Demko is our franchise goaltender, Dubois/Tkachuk has to lead us in points, followed by Boeser as top goal scorer, then McCann, Baertschi, and secret weapon Jake.

Hutton, Tryamkin, Stecher, Brisebois on D. Maybe Subban as a PP specialist.
