Egypt Air flight vanishes off radar

Recommended Posts

Jesus. Probably the worst place to bring this up, and I hope no-one has relatives or loved ones on either flight, but every time a plane goes missing I think about MH370.

With the technology we have in the world it is absolutely ridiculous that an entire plane can "disappear".

Especially after MH370. The fact that you can still manually turn off a transponder is insane.

Right?

Furthermore, What the hell kind of cheap ass satellites and radar do these flights/satellites/ground control all tie into in the first place where an entire plane, transponder or not, just vanishes from thin atmosphere whether the RFID is disabled or not?

So far it looks like the flight was going Paris to Egypt.

It disappeared as it entered Egyptian air space.

69 people on board, 59 passengers and 10 crew.

Well if a plane disappears at 39,000 feet I am thinking there was an event in the air.

Egyptian authorities asking all nations for any help they can offer.

As far as the transponder. you'd think Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier etc would all retrofit those planes to change the transponder being able to be turned off. However, maybe it's up to the aviation authorities in each country to decide.

Agree.

The little guy inside me still wonders how airlines worth millions/billions of dollars don't have a satellite data logging GPS tracking (or whatever) on 70-450 tons of steel cruising through the sky.

I know it's tough, but it isn't a stealth bomber it's a giant commercial airliner.

It disappeared means it crashed guys. The plane was observed climbing at 37k feet immediately before "disappearing", likely due to explosion on board.

They recently fired 74 people from Paris Airport due to "terror" links. Not a huge surprise if this was a terrorist act.

CNN guest gave examples of other planes lost to an explosion which climbed immediately before disappearing off the radar.

Basically immediately after an explosion onboard the plane climbs or pilots try to make the plane climb to keep it in air.

It should be very early morning there now, "day break" , so the wreckage will be found over the next little while with help of daylight.

Costs more to implement and maintain all this than it does dealing with a lost airliner. In other words, money before people. Business as usual.

very sad. I don't get how planes keep disappearing off the radar. I might get flamed for this comment, but I think their something fishy going on because how? seriously how can they lose a plane. The world has so much technology, I find it hard to believe that a plane just goes missing, something is not right.

with that being said, I feel very bad for the family members. My family always travels out of Canada, and I can just imagine the pain they are going through, very sad event hopefully they find this plane to give the families some comfort.

I like your logic and reasoning

I'm not sure you grasped my point entirely. It has nothing to do with conspiracy, rather ineptitude. Or, as @Tortorella's Rant so aptly put it, profits.

I was more talking about your massively over-inflated expectations of techonology. Do you think we are even close to having full coverage of the earth with any technology in a way that is at all affordable?

Wow, CDC is off the rails again.

The plane is missing. It is likely crashed in the Mediterranean Sea. It's just day break in that part of the world. In all likelihood the plane will be found very soon, most likely with in hours.

When a plane crashes or explodes due to a bomb it "disappears" off the radar. A BIG reason for that is because the plane is no longer in the air. So naturally the radar can't pick it up.
