bassetgreg
For those of you who trashed me last summer when I suggested that Kessel, whose value was at an all-time low, should be traded for.... Well he looks like the playoff MVP now Him and Bonino would have been an excellent duo on our second line
Monty
"Hey guys, you know how every player is awesome, no matter what team they play for? Wouldn't they look great on our stale team that has a tough enough time keeping up with the bruising Western Conference teams?"
Where's Wellwood
He's still has a cap hit of 8 million. It's easy to play better when the top defenders are used against Crosby and Malkin.
Mackcanuck
Kessel's contract: 15-16: 10 mil 16-17: 9 mil 17-18: 9 mil 18-19: 7 mil 19-20: 7 mil 20-21- 6 mil
D-Money
NTC He weighed it to play with Crosby and Malkin, on a team close too the same area, who had a chance to contend. Quite different from going to another Canadian team, on the other side of the continent , without a hope of winning the cup in the foreseeable future. JeremyCuddles
Careful you don't dislocate your shoulder patting yourself on the back. He would not be in the same position here. Nor would it make sense for us to have acquired him given how bare our prospect pool is, better recently but still needs work.

Then we could have got good value for Vrby at this last TDL, and moved Kessel and Bonino this summer for picks in the best draft since '03. That's our team though. Leafs are paying some of cap hit Top defenders would be against Sedins maybe? ...Or if top defenders are against Kessel then the Sedins can produce more Kessel was a top 10 scorer against top defenders when he was a Leaf I just don't get all the hate...Leaf media trashed this guy just like they trashed Stanley Cup champion Larry Murphy years ago Murphy went on to win 2 Cups with Detroit Kessel may win Cups with Pittsburgh He may win a Conn Smythe as well Murphy=underrated Kessel=underrated Don't drink the Leaf media/Leafnation kool-aid

PhillipBlunt
What works in the East, does not necessarily work in the West. "While a tuna may be a ferocious predator to the mackerel, cod, and herring in the Eastern waters, he becomes prey in the Western waters where the orca resides." or something like that. I have a feeling that Kessel would be less of a sniper, and more of a lumberjack in the West. As you can tell, I'm a huge fan of metaphors. Toews
I always thought Kessel was treated badly in Toronto. They expected him to be a leader. A team where he was the best player was never going to go anywhere. Now that the spotlight is off of him, he has performed much better. Playoff stats: 36GP 20G 37P I was going to make a thread about this but if the Pens win the cup we can make a case for Kessel to win the Conn Smythe. His point production during the playoffs is amazing and his +/- was better than Crosby and Malkin during the first two rounds (I think they are still better right now). oldnews
He'd look great on our 3rd line. In case you're oblivious - that's where he is in Pittsburgh - because he laid an egg playing with Crosby and Malkin. Now he gets to feed on third pairings and 4th lines - with a pair of linemates like Hagelin and Bonino. A vastly overpaid, one-dimensional slacker.
