The Canadian
TO VAN Duchene TO COL Sutter Edler Torts pick Vancouver is in need for a future number 1 centreman, so could Duchene be that guy? We need him, and he probably won't cost a lot since he hasn't got 60 or more points for the past 2 seasons. Colorado needs a good defensemen, and Edler could be that guy. Also, if Barrie leaves Colorado the Avs have Edler to replace him. The Avs also need a good third line centreman who can play good offense and defense. Sutter is an amazing option for that, and if we get Duchene, Sutter won't be needed cause we have Henrik Duchene Horvat and Granlund. Finally, we need to add that Torts pick to even out the value. I don't really mind giving it away because we probably won't get it this year, and next years draft is not deep. (IDK about the 2018 one) Here's Colorado's lineup with Edler and Sutter Landeskog MacKinnon Iginla Boedker Soderberg Grigorenko McLeod Sutter Mitchell Comeau Matthias Skille Edler Johnson Beauchemin Barrie Redmond Gelinas Duchene probably won't be needed. Thoughts?
ItsMillerTime
Duchene has more value then that. He is pretty overrated but has a lot of value. Mccann 1st 2nd sutter id say. Edler will never be traded.
19Nazzy91
Doubt they'd want to take on Sutter's contract. Plus, I don't really see Duchene as a potential number 1 center... Definitely number 2... but look at his stats this year. 25 years old, 59 points. Horvat is 21 and got 40. Just pointing that out. We'd need to add more to this deal anyways. mll
Soderberg is their matchup C. He has the lowest zone starts with Comeau at under 40% among all their regular players and still put up over 50pts. They don't need Sutter. They would need an offensive C to replace Duchene. Re the lineup - it seems like they won't be bringing Boedker back. Dater tweeted that they had no contact since the end of the season and that there is no indication that there will be any.

We'd need to add more to this deal anyways. He's had 55 or more points in 5 of 7 seasons (would've been 6 in the 12/13 campaign -> was on pace for 75 points). He is absolutely a number 1 center in the NHL. I think by his standards, his last 2 seasons have been quite underwhelming, but he's only 25. Nonetheless, I agree that this isn't even remotely close to what a potential Duchene trade would require.

I agree, and see if Stamkos will sign here first before trading away assets...but ya, if we traded for him it would cost quite a bit more that the original proposal... insomniac604
Colorado just lost Stastny for nothing, and traded O'Relily for pennies. There is NO way they are giving up their top centre for peanuts. Or gold. Soderberg is a solid top 6 C. MacKinnon and/or Grigorenko can take C spots in his absence. But Duchene? He is probably their best player. Barrie is an RFA so I can see us using Edler to get his rights. But using Edler to get Duchene? It's gonna cost a whole lot more than that.
