Pitts(acquire top-6 pick, proposal)

Recommended Posts

Gonna list 2 deals that I just saw mentioned on HFBoards. The premise seems interesting(it's not so much about these two trades in particular, rather, the approach).

Predicting many of the top teams, might deal 2 or 3 great, younger pieces to nab a high selection. With expansion coming, it makes sense to parlay some organizational-depth, for a top young star that you don't have to worry about protecting.

examples:

Pitt: Murray & Sprong  to Cal: 6th overall pick

Pitt: Murray & Pouliot, to Edm: 4th overall

Curious what types of offers JB will receive for #5? Also how many contenders might opt for this expensive option?

If you can think of any similar examples, pls have at'her...

Over value Murray.......

Same type of deal would have been given for Hammond last year.

How would that have turned out after this year?

Murray was considered one of the top goaltending prospects well before this run.

i could be wrong but aren't sprong and murray protected? I know sprong is on his elc still making him exempt isn't  murray as well? Besides i think they would rather trade fluery instead, or leave him unprotected also if fluery has a nmc he's exempt

NMCs need to be protected and will use up a spot on the protect list.

Apparently only full NMCs though.  The ones that prevent also a trade and not just a demotion to the AHL.

According to CapFriendly, Fleury has a modified-NTC / NMC - so he wouldn't need to be on the protect list as it's not a full NMC.

Murray would be in his 3rd year pro and would need protection to not be exposed.  Sprong would be exempt if it's in June 2017.

Pitt will trade MAF.  It saves them cap room to keep Murray.  There have been rumors floating that Calgary is in BIG on MAF.  I don't know what the return would be, but if it was the sixth over all, the Penguins would have to add.
