On behalf of General Manager @Bombastik der Teutone, the Montreal Canadiens are pleased to announce the signing of:

small.png Brad Hunt - 1 year, $800k

Please note that to accommodate Brad on the active roster, Connor Carrick was demoted to the minors. You may wish to amend this now.

The Habs are pleased to welcome Brad to our Organisation. With a disapointing Frank Corrado, a struggling John Merril and a injured Clyton Stoner , he will give us some more flexibility on the Defence.

With that assist last night, Luca Sbisa becomes the leading FP/G and total FPTS on Nashville's D... Never felt so proud

Long Live Lord Luca...

Leading up to the expansion draft, it appears the GM Apollo will select to protect 7 Forwards, 3 Defenseman and 1 Goaltender.

Although it comes as no surprise, GM Apollo has re-confirmed that Luca "The Franchise" Sbisa is guaranteed to be protected. The leadership he's exemplified with his fighting, shot blocking, hitting is unlike any other. There's a reason Nashville's farm team is named Luca Sbisa's Minions of Manhattan.

On behalf of General Manager @Beary Sweet, the Los Angeles Kings are delighted to announce the extension of:

small.png Tyler Toffoli - 3 years, $4.75m AAV

Steve Yzerman should get a commission for this deal (guessing Kucherov was the comparable).

But really, this deal makes sense for the player, as they take ~1 mil less per than market value now, but get to cash in as a UFA at the end of it. Making it longer and taking UFA years would undoubtedly up the price.

The LA Kings are pleased to extend Tyler for many more years. he was likely going to command a lot in the open market next summer as he becomes a free agent but this was a no brainer extension for the organization as he is a big part of our 1st line and he's young, fast, skilled and he's only going to get better as his career goes on. Glad to have him aboard as we compete for the division title, Cup,  the President's Cup also this year and for next few years.

Somebody in Metro gonna rage quit at the end of the year.

At the current pace, the top-6 of the league may end up Chicago & 5 Metro teams!

After finishing 2nd last in the entire league in 2015-16, Columbus is happy just to be in the mix. We feel that going forward, Carolina and ourselves are going to be the more successful teams in the long-term, as we are generally younger, and have better prospect pools. As such, we have only traded quality picks/prospects up for younger players who will help for years to come.

To MTL: Phil Kessel + Chris Stewart

To NYR: Patrick Kane ($1.2 million retained for 2016/17), Bryan Flynn

Thanks to @Bombastik der Teutone for the negotiations, and to SV for posting the deal.

It wasn't easy trading Kessel, who's been having a great season, but we felt that having both him and Malkin was a bit risky in case Pittsburgh doesn't go deep. Getting Kane and Flynn gives us players on contenders that we didn't have, so now we are covered for almost any playoff scenario.

Best of luck to Phil and Chris in Montreal!

Geez, not making the news splash MM is?

But we passed 2000 points yesterday.  Before SMTV hit 3000.  All just fine from the left coast...

Who can keep up with the torrid trade pace coming out of the Metro?

We'll just keep plodding along along and hope that the tweaking we do here and there will keep most of those Metro race car teams from passing us in the end.

I'll warn those Metro dudes, @Canuck Surfer's Boston team is coming up fast and is built with oir league's top goaltending tandem and high-upside youth...

small.png  To CHI: Philip Danault, 2017 3rd (LAK)

small.png  To LAK: Cam Ward

I think @Beary Sweet and I went back and forth on this 700 times over weeks of negotiations (thanks it was fun!), and I'm pleased that both teams landed on fulfilling their respective needs. Ward is undergoing a renaissance season as a volume starter and fits perfectly with an LA team that is missing their incumbent starter Quick (maybe even for the season).

As other GM's with two starters can likely attest, one is only realizing about a 3rd of the points generated by one's back up due to simultaneous play with the starter. Now, Cam Ward can deservingly play full time for a team hurting for goaltending, and sets himself up wonderfully with 2 starters over both RL conferences.

Chicago is happy to welcome Philip to our team, where he will continue to develop his game under the guidance of RL teammate Paul Byron.

Thanks for carrying out the transaction @Master Mind.

Tampa Bay is looking to move C/RW Curtis Lazar, C/LW Sergei Kalinin, or C/LW Mikael Grigorenko for a similar age and potential young NHL defenseman (preferablyon a playoff team).

Likewise, C/RW Craig Smith is available for a similar age/cap hit defenseman on a playoff team.

Veterans like Jason Garrison, Derek Engelland, Andy Greene, Mike Fisher, Matt Moulson, and Matt Cullen are also available for the right return.
