Watermelons
Pittsburgh Penguins Mid-Season Report It has been an eventful season for fans in Pittsburgh. As the trade deadline approaches, the team is in a completely different position compared to last season. Just 365 days ago, the Penguins were well over 200 points out of a playoff spot and had a number of core players who were under performing. GM Watermelons made a tough decision to let go of three talented players in Fowler, Nyquist and Okposo in hopes of preparing the team for a playoff run next season. As it turned out, the team ended up rallying together managed to sneak into the playoffs. Even with the disappointment of losing in the first round, fans entered the 2016/17 season with optimism. Although the team has cooled off after having two incredibly productive months in October and November, support for the team continues to increase. GM Watermelons has been praised for adding a superstar in Big Buff and two exciting players in Kreider and Holden. The fact that he has been able to add depth in just about every position has allowed the Penguins to overcome injuries. In particular, the defence has been plagued with injuries and currently are missing 3/6 of the regulars in Letang, Moore, and McCabe. Of course, these additions have also been met with criticism from media outlets outside of Pittsburgh. Not only did they cost the Penguins a super-prospect in Mathew Barzal, they may also result in further losses. While Big Buff is a fantastic addition, his contract will be up this season and GM Watermelons does not have much cap space to play with. Will he be forced to trade another young player to make room? Either way, Penguins fans seem to be happy to enjoy to wave while it lasts. You'd be hard pressed to find an article from a Pittsburgh-based media outlet that has anything negative to say about what the Penguins have been able to do this season. See below for the mid-season awards as voted upon by fans. MVP - Alexander Wennberg -If you are just a casual hockey fan, your first thought would probably be "Who? He has a cool name but I've never heard of him." With 40 points in 47 games, Wennberg has taken over as Pittsburgh's #1 centre since the start of the season. He has already matched his career high in points in 22 less games and we have locked him up for 4 more years. When the season started, Wennberg was penciled down as the 3rd line centre but with slow starts from both Logan Couture and Brandon Dubinsky, Wennberg found a way to step up and lead this team. Without his production, Pittsburgh would be nowhere close to where they are right now. He may have slowed down a bit since the start of January, but we look for him to finish the season strong. Unsung Hero - Alec Martinez -Another choice that will leave the casual hockey fan scratching his/her head. One quick look at this roster and you would see that Big Buff and Letang are the two best defencemen on this team. Who needs another defenceman after those two guys? Martinez is having yet another solid season scoring 4.82fp/g and is ranked in the top 40 players in this league in terms of overall production. That puts him ahead of Tavares, Giroux and Doughty. Not bad for a guy who is signed at $4.00M until 2021. Most Exciting Player - JT Miller -Miller impressed us last year with his speed and offensive prowess, but he has taken another step this year and is now ranked as the 29th most productive player in this league. Alongside his real life and CDC Puck teammate Chris Kreider, he has provided us with solid production every night. At 23 years older, fans are excited to continue to watch his development. An updated roster has been posted. NHL ROSTER Chris Kreider - Alexander Wennberg - JT Miller Rick Nash - Logan Couture - James Neal Anthony Mantha - Alex Killorn - Patrick Eaves Shane Prince - Nick Cousins - Tommy Wingels Extras: Matt Stajan, Nick Schmaltz Alec Martinez - Dustin Byfuglien Nick Holden - Adam Clendening Eric Gelinas - Shea Theodore Henrik Lundqvist Michael Neuvirth Injured: Kris Letang, Johan Larsson, Jake McCabe, John Moore

D-Money
The Columbus Blue Jackets are currently listening to offers on Kyle Okposo. He's not a player we were looking to move - in fact, we have been looking forward to years of him riding shotgun with Eichel/Reinhart on a Buffalo team poised to be great in the near future. But we have been considering a couple of options involving an equivalent playoff player coming back. PM me & bi-@Monty if interested.

Beary Sweet
If you need an ambulance, call the Kings organization! we have been hit on the injury bug and have therefore, lost our division lead to @Jaku's Ducks. We are planning on making one final move that we believe will help the team win the cup this year. We are not trying to throw and trade everything out for a star player but we are interested in clearing up some cap. So if you have the cap to retain and make a trade, PM if you're interested. Also thanks to @Master Mind for processing this trade. We are pleased to welcome Mikael and Josh to our organization. It was a no brainer to accept this wonderful offer. Josh was a 1st round talent that we believe will make the NHL in next year or two and be a regular for the Islanders and the LA Kings organization hopefully. Also Backlund is just hitting his prime and he's only going to get better as he continues to cement an already impressive career. We would like to thank Eric for his contributions to the organization and wish him all the best in Columbus.
Mike Vanderhoek
The Devils are now in the process of exploring options on our assets, we currently have several Playoff bound assets who could be available to help other organizations should a deal be reached. We are seeking to strengthen our prospect pool as well as free up some room to bring more youth into the lineup. All assets will be considered up for discussion not named Hampus Lindholm or Alexander Ovechkin.

He came to us seeking a deal to shed some cap, and gain a top pick/prospect. We were able to come to an agreement that was beneficial to both teams. Both Staal and the Wild are having a fantastic year, being first in the West, and are virtually assured of a playoff spot. Backlund is younger, and also showing he is a solid producer, but we are not sure if the Flames will be in the playoffs. We feel the upgrade for the playoffs was worth spending a top prospect in Ho-Sang on - especially since Staal has term remaining on a very affordable contract. This is the latest of a series of moves we've made to strengthen our team not only for a playoff run this year, but for at least the next 2 years as well. We have shown that we are willing to pay quality for quality. We are still listening to offers on Kyle Okposo, so contact us soon if you're interested. We're happy to bring in Eller, as his RL Capitals are looking very strong again this year, and could finally be ready to go on a run. Plus we need all the playoff help we can get to outlast our division rivals. Dowd's RL Kings may be a playoff team, but it's not for certain. We will miss him though - a free agent signing last year that blossomed into more than we could have hoped for. One of the most rewarding parts of fantasy hockey is seeing one of your prospects make an impact, and that's what he did, considering he lead the team in points a month or so into the season. Best of luck to him in New Jersey.

Well then... scratch what I said in the above post, the Caps are bound for a 1st round upset. Probably in 4 games too. No sense keeping them - teams would be much better off trading them for players on the red hot Blues! Now if only there was a team who had Blues players available... apollo
Nashville Predators Update The Preds are looking to add playoff bound talent and hope to make a deal ASAP with the TDL approaching fast. The below picks will all be available. As well as top end prospects. Will move roster players as well if it makes sense - even those that are playoff bound, assuming we get a return playoff player. Ideally we hope to land a D-man in preparation for the expansion draft. As it stands, we don't have 3 d-man that we're guaranteeing protection on. 2017 1 (ARZ), 1 (WPG), 5 2018 1, 2, 3, 4,
