Yeehaw!

Fun fact.  Bought a bike and went for my first bike ride in near 27 years today.  Took a long skid down the Icefields Parkway on a road trip. Just past Columbia Glacier in the Rockies, and my bike went over a cliff, Aug 1 1990.  Managed 40 KM for my first pedal, not bad for an old bastard? Geez, fighting back tears writing this.  Riding used to be my life. Cant believe I waited so long...

But now I'm back home and checking in on hockey. Killer 1st day, and welcome Noah Hanafin with his first Fantasy Points in a Bruin Uniform.

Think its only the 3rd or 4th day all year we had 6 D going...

82 points so far and counting!

We like to support our players.  Bought gift certificates for the Cadillac Ranch for Benoit Pouliot just now in fact!  And were smart enough to sit his -3 Ass today...

And we hit 3000 before Something Berry hit 4000! :towel:

Thank God hockey is back...

Hitchcock fired (finally!), here's to hoping Yeo can get Allen some wins.

Young Jake has the issue, not the coach :P

Time for Masters and Disasters for the NY Rangers - January Edition

Masters

Evgeny Kuznetsov - 20 points in 15 games, including over 100 f points, which leads the team. He's making up for his slow start in a big way.

John Klingberg - He's been producing ~3 fppg most of the season, but has stepped it up with a month worth 5 fppg. That's the Klingberg I traded for.

Mikael Granlund - He keeps on rollin', getting better and better as weeks go by.

Disasters

Antoine Vermette - 0 goals in 14 games has hurt his production, but a couple goals will get him back on track

Brian Flynn - Not known for his scoring, but we'd like to see him land a few more hits here and there.

Goaltending - Just can't get the wins.

Overall not a bad month. The team is producing well, but Chicago managed to increase the gap, and Columbus gained a bit on us. We'll have our attention turned to the trade deadline as we try to bolster our lineup in any way possible.

Tampa Bay Lightning January Report

All Sizzle, No Fizzle

Jason Zucker - the young winger kept up his torrid pace posting a sparkling 5.6 fppg average during January. 6 goals and 12 points in 13 games and a +7 with a hit per game is what we like to see from this young value player.

Mike Fisher - Like Zucker, Fisher just keeps getting better as the season goes on. 10 points in 14 games in January combined with a physical presence with 30 hits. Good for a 5.36 fppg average during the month.

Tom Pyatt - the veteran forward had 7 points in 12 games and a stellar +8 in that span. 4.06 fppg in the month at 600k. Doesn't get any better than that.

Richard Panik - He has been very consistent all season long and 3.46 fppg in January was no exception. 7 points in 12 games while providing a physical presence (24 hits) and all on a value contract playing for a cup favourite.

Getting Charged Up

Youngsters Aaron Ekblad and Mikael Grigorenko are showing signs of busting their early struggles this season. They are starting to get back to the kind of consistent production we will need from them. Both are important pieces to our future.

Short Circuits

Injuries - Injuries to Brendan Gallagher, Matt Cullen, Jannik Hansen, and Andy Greene certainly took a lot of bite out of Tampa's lineup in January. Tampa has weathered the storm to a certain degree but will need to be better to hang on to a playoff spot.

Tampa is expected to be active up to the trade deadline with an eye on improving the team for next season. WSA is not expected to be willing to mortgage the future for rental players but Tampa has some cap room which allows them to be creative in getting deals done.
