Drive-By Body Pierce
Quote Exact rules can be found here: https://www.capfriendly.com/expansion-draft-faq It would appear by the explanation that there are minimum exposure requirements, but not necessarily minimum protection requirements (only maximum, given the chosen option). Can anyone show me where I might be missing something that says you are not allowed to simply protect less players than the maximum, in order to meet the minimum exposure requirements? EDIT: Of course assuming they meet exposure requirements.

EDIT: Of course assuming they meet exposure requirements. I think I have answered my own question with this statement: Quote Protected Players Teams will be permitted to protect a certain amount of their players, meaning that they would not be exposed as available players in the Expansion Draft. Teams will be permitted to protect a group of players that fall under one of the following two options:
wallstreetamigo
If I am u derstanding your question, I don't think you HAVE to protect that many players if you don't want to. Canuck Surfer
Received our 6th and 7th inquiry on Robbi Fabbri. Just putting it out there that the Bruins are not planning on selling up young players for immediate, short term, roster help. If anything the opposite. Looking to acquire more such young players. Or higher end futures. Regardless of play off status. Can put up a wickedly positioned higher end forward to achieve these younger assets.
apollo
Reports that Nick Bonino is on his way out of Nashville and that the Predators are hoping for an equivalent rental playoff player in return. However, will be open to non rental players as well. After learning from Henrik and Daniel Sedin, Nick proved he's better than Crosby when it comes to the playoffs after outproducing him last year. Nick is arguably the most prized TDL trade bait for teams who wish to go deep into the playoffs. Having only produced 3.16FP/gm in the regular season, Nick can surely be signed for a bargain. Certainly higher than his current 1.9AAV but a bargain nonetheless. 2015-2016 Playoff Stats (Fantasy Points) C Bonino, Nick C - PIT Act 1,900,000 2017 132.25 5.51 UFA 24 4 14 9 0 2 1 0 1 16 50 C Crosby, Sidney C - PIT Act 7,700,000 2025 111.75 4.66 UFA 24 6 13 -2 0 3 0 0 1 32 15 Statement from GM Apollo: "As mentioned before, we've been in talks with Nick's agent but haven't had any luck extending him. If the price isn't right, Nick will not be dealt and we'll have to risk losing him to free agency."

Tigs
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! While we are inheriting a bit of a tire fire here, there are still some very nice pieces in the minors that we liked. The Capitals are very clearly sellers in this market and are open to offers on any player. Please keep in mind that John Tavares and Mark Stone will be the closest thing we have to being untouchable on our NHL roster. We will be looking for young NHL players with potential, prospects, and picks in the next 2 drafts coming back our way. We do not need players on playoff teams, as we care more about quality right now. We can also potentially take cap dumps, but that type of trade would need to involve some premier youth/quality picks. Prospects Michael Dal Colle, Dylan Strome, Nathan Bastian, Nick Paul, Michael McLeod, Dylan Sadowy, and MacKenzie Blackwood are to be considered untouchable at this point in time. You will not be seeing any trades from the new brass mirroring that of the Eakin trade earlier this year. I look forward to working with all of you in the future, and wish you all the best of luck! The NHL hasn't flat out said the ruling on this (how convenient of them), at least not from any article I've found. But based on the wording from NHL.com, it sounds like teams must protect the full amount: Quote Protected Lists * Clubs will have two options for players they wish to protect in the Expansion Draft: a ) Seven forwards, three defensemen and one goaltender b ) Eight skaters (forwards/defensemen) and one goaltender
