wallstreetamigo
Not the cream of the crop roster around here of course and there are a few holes to fill but overall I like our organization depth at all positions. Needs: - a younger top 4 dman (particularly a top 2 guy) - A younger offensive-minded top 6 forward - NHL level depth forwards and defense (preferably waiver exempt) - Add draft picks where possible - Balance prospect pool by adding some defense. It was tough to give up the depth pieces as we lack that on our team, but we have been looking for top 4 Defense and with this deal we got exactly that! We wish good luck to Logan and Nate in there quest for a cup in NY
Bombastik der Teutone
and again .... the habs are still moving C Henrik Sedin for a Younger Top 6 Winger... rather a LW. We would part with a 2017 1st Round Pick to get a Deal done
wallstreetamigo
Matt Bartkowski signs a two year, two way deal with Calgary today. Here's hoping he gets a shot. Its a pretty low risk play by Calgary. He and Hamilton also had some chemistry playing together in Beantown. With the right role this could pay off for them. wallstreetamigo
Bomba always has the best tough guys on his team. Scary to play against! Although I have newly minted goon Nyquist and McDavid nemesis Manning so I might be ok. Good trade though guys.

Always a pleasure dealing with Bomba and as usual we had a few laughs discussing this one. It is tough to give up a solid veteran leader like Jason and we thank him for all his contributions and wish him luck with Montreal. He will be a big addition to their blueline. Griffin is a player we really like and are hoping a fresh start will help him get his career back on track. He has struggled to find his path to a full time job in the NHL but he adds nicely to our prospect pool and we can afford to be patient. We met a couple of our organizational goals of clearing a bit of cap and adding to our defensive prospect pool. Of course, that does not come without a cost as we remove a full time roster player from our defense and add him to a division rival still within striking distance of our playoff spot. We see this as a show of confidence in young defenders like Greg Pateryn and Aleksey Marchenko. One of them, or veterans Alex Biega or Matt Bartkowski need to step up and fill a big hole in our lineup. With this move, Tampa is aggressively in the market for a younger top 4 defender or even two of them. Just on a personal note, I know the Reinhart family including Griffin quite well personally in real life from Max and Sam's time with the Kootenay Ice. Griffin is a great kid and I hope he gets his career on track. Even if he busts out I am happy to have him on my team for personal reasons. D-Money
2 minutes ago, Master Mind said: To MTL: Kyle Okposo, Zach Redmond To CBJ: Matthias Ekholm, Cody McLeod CBJ thanks @Bombastik der Teutone for the incredibly fast negotiations. Always a pleasure to deal with. We came to Montreal with a deal we felt benefited both clubs, and Bomba agreed. His Habs are actually very solid, and should be a playoff team next year, but this season due to injuries he was in tough. Okposo is a very high producer, who should only be better next season with a healthy Eichel and O'Reilly. And he was set to lose a good D-man in the expansion draft, so this move protects his interests. And Redmond should be back in the NHL next season, where the RL Habs will have a tighter cap situation. For us, this gives us 2 playoff players for 2 guys who will not likely be playing. And despite his solid Fpt production earlier, Redmond is in the AHL right now, so the current production from Ekholm+McLeod will be much more than Okposo alone. And we had no representation from the Predators, so this fixes that. As for our expansion plans, we are going to be losing a good D-man regardless - but only one - so we decided to just keep loading up on them. I'm sure @Captain Azzy won't mind. The trade originally had significantly different pieces but in the end acquiring Stepan for this years playoff run was the kicker. Florida is still looking to add pieces and will move prospects/picks to that end.

wallstreetamigo
Tampa is looking for a young top pairing defenseman. We are willing to consider various scenarios based on what the other GM is looking for in return. Roster players, picks, and/or prospects could be moved in any deal. Our preference is to move forwards and forward prospects over defense but will look at anything that makes sense. We are also interested in a younger top 6 center so feel free to contact me about that as well.
