@thejazz97 ^^ You one crazy muther pucker!

They don't call me the Riskmaster for nothing! (Actually, they don't call me that at all...)

We needed to move out some contracts and we like Dan Girardi - especially at his contract value for the next season.

Is there a way to find out how long you are retaining money on previous trades? I'm retaining on Weber and Bobrovsky, but have no idea what the details are.

Details to all 2016-17 trades are logged in my first post of page 1 of this thread.

Just open it up and search "To OTT"

Looking at the old trades the previous regime did... Tell me this is a typo... OMFG... @somethingvery you have some explaining to do. I didn't realize the previous regime was this bad.

To OTT: Jussi Jokinen, Nic Kerdiles, Noel Acciari, Gabriel Gagne

To CHI: Jeremy Roy, Colin White, Julius Honka, 2017 3rd round pick

Want to thank @Jaku for the really easy negotiations. Also to @Master Mind for processing so quick. It sucks to lose a young F like Rasmussen with so much potential. But we feel we got back a Dman with the same potential. Dennis became a victim of having too many good forwards and likely would have had to clear waivers had we signed him. With the Klein news and the possibility of losing another D come expansion we had to act.

The previous GM was looking for active NHLers for a depleted roster.

Jussi was coming off of a high scoring year with a RL Florida team that had emerged as a cup favorite. Acciari was a scrappy forward rookie that had played in the NHL, and Kerdiles and Gagne were 2nd round picks (if I remember correctly?).

Roy had a whole-season ending surgery and his status in the SJ org is questionable, and White and Honka were mid to late 1st round prospects that were considered to be promising but perhaps not as known to be at the time.

Definitely looks lopsided now but there was at least some logic to the trade at the time.

Somethingvery has a long and storied history of absolutely bending new GMs over. You should see what he pried out of Washington for an overpaid Eakin.

Disclaimer: I was not the GM at the time.

small.png  To WSH: Cody Eakin (40% salary retained for 2016/17 season)

Many thanks to @D-Money for the easy negotiations, and for being so reasonable in matching his price to what we had available. The Buffalo Sabres are extremely excited to have Kahkonen on board. We inherited a team without a single goalie prospect in the system, a situation that was made all the more urgent by the recent Rinne trade. When we saw the chance to obtain one of Kaapo's quality, we couldn't pass it up. We believe that Kahkonen has a bright future, and a clear shot to a future NHL starting position.

Thanks to @Sygvard and @Sestito'sHandMadeVodka for the smooth negotiations.

It wasn't easy to give up a solid young goaltender like Kahkonen, but we felt we had too many contracts (5) devoted to goaltending, and our current tandem is already quite strong. We are willing to consider a similar deal involving Jamie Phillips or Adin Hill. But overall, we are happy with our goaltending situation going forward.

Ok, okay. Just sit on your pile of money and fortune, and tell me again how this was a fair deal at the time.

how did he get there ?

takes two teams to agree to a trade, yes some very one-sided deals and I can understand people's frustration. I say it time and again to new GMs more so in GML as a lending hand. read up on the rules, the scoring structure and take your time before making deals.

Of all these Fantasy Leagues there is always a few hardcore dedicated GMs who research the bah-jesus out of players, and other team's assets. Theres always a few who are appreciative to be included and spend their time coloring their walls with crayons or obsessing over steaming piles like Sbisa haha.

Then there is the majoity who understand values, understand where their teams are at and can make conversation and at times pull off trades. The rest of us if you will.

You can't cry when a somethingvery comes along and owns newbies in trades, I dont agree with it to a degree but once you are GM its on you to make deals that work for you.
