The Chicago Blackhawks wish Mr Cole great success with his new and rapidly-transforming team, best of luck to Mr @Stamkos for embodying 'active GMing' as he continues to make his team his own, and gratitude for Commish @Master Mind's relentless league efforts.

We welcome Lucas and Nikita as two developing blue-liners that we target being a solid part of our teams future defense corps.

The Flyers are thrilled to add Andrei and Sam to the team. We see Andrei as the future #1 goalie for the organization and Sam as the #1 center going forward. We certainly gave up a lot of great players to get them. With the Metropolitan division as strong as it is the thought was to add some younger players geared towards the future. It was difficult giving up Lehtera and Krug as they contributed immensely to the organization in the past and are in their prime.  Yakupov is certainly a promising player and I am confident he will revitalize his career in Ottawa. Best of luck to Lehtera, Krug, Yakupov & Korpikoski in Ottawa.  Thanks to @Stamkos for the negotiations. I know some of you guys will give him a difficult time being a new GM, but I believe this trade helps the Senators. As always, thanks to @Master Mind for processing the trade.

An expert panel with their insights on the recent trades.

Duthie: Now, the big news going around the NHL is the Ottawa senators and their new GM. He has made a huge splash already with 4 trades. But here is the big question: Is he over his head?

Dreger: Well, I am gonna say no. He is trying to make it known early on that he wants to put his face into the team. He wants to compete and he is doing anything he can to do just that.

McKenzie: Now, I have to agree with you. He has reshaped the core to one that consists of Shea Weber, Jori Lehtera, Torey Krug, Nail Yakupov, Ian Cole and Jussi Jokinen.

Duthie: And lets not forget about Ryan Miller. Now, why do you make that trade and give up Bobrovsky, arguably a better goalie at this time?

McKenzie: I know that it may seem odd but Miller is on a Canucks team that could make the playoffs, and Miller is the starting goalie. Bobrovsky was and still is a great goalie, but he isn't playing on a team that can make the playoffs. Miller has a better team in front of him.

Dreger: There is no doubt that the Canucks are more likely to make the playoffs than the Blue Jackets.

Duthie: What about the current rumours? Knowledgeable sources say that GM Stamkos is going after Sven Baertcshi. If true, is that a good idea?

McKenzie: I certainly think so. Sven is a strong left winger and could have a breakout year. But a left winger will have to go back because there is a jam of them on this Senators team.

Dreger: Now don't forget that Jason Botchford *Groans* has said that Marleau and other pieces have been offered for Girardi. What do you make of that?

Duthie: Well, Girardi is a masterful defender but I'd assume it would take more than Marleau to get a deal done.

McKenzie: I agree with you there. Getting Girardi could be the move that brings this team to the playoffs.

Duthie: Well, that's all for now, when we get back, we talk about the Blue Jays. Is there a trade in the works?

This sets the stage to get interesting when we complete this season... @Captain Woodget will get to pick one of Vasilevskiy or Quick for his new Las Vegas Woodgets franchise.
