A few tweaks to rebuild on the fly and keep us contending

Recommended Posts

OH MY GOD, GUYS! I THOUGHT THAT IT COULD'T GET ANY MORE OBVOUS THAT IT'S A JOKE! I'M MAKING FUN OF ALL THE BRAIN DEAD THREADS WHERE WE SIGN ALL THE FREE AGENTS AND TRADE FOR ALL THE BEST PLAYERS. PLEASE STOP TELLING ME THAT STAMKOS WON'T SIGN FOR SIX MILLION. THANK YOU.

So, I was thinking, this team isn't too far off from being a contender. If Benning plays it smart this off season I'm sure we can turn this around.

First off, signings:

Sign Stamkos to a $6.5 million x 8 year deal.

Sign Eriksson to a $4.5 million x 2 year deal.

Sign Lucic to a $5 million x 3 year deal.

Trades:

To Winnipeg: 5th overall, Gaunce.

To Vancouver: 2nd overall -> draft Laine.

To NY Islanders: Sbisa & 2nd rounder

To Vancouver: Travis Hamonic.

To St. Louis: 2017 1st rounder, Dorsett & Burrows.

To Vancouver: Alex Pietrangelo.

Lineup:

Lucic - Stamkos - Laine

Sedin - Sedin - Eriksson

Hansen - Horvat - Baertschi

Granlund - Sutter - Virtanen

Pietrangelo - Tanev

Hamonic - Edler

Tryamkin - Hutton

Miller

Markstrom

I feel like this lineup could do some serious damage, the only problem may be the goal tending, but I feel like it should be enough. Benning should look into doing something like this.

What do you guys think?

edit: gotta love that you guys don't understand d that I'm making fun of the people making proposals. I really thought that this was so over the top dumb that no one would mistake this for a serious proposal.

All the people who you tried to sign would decline. They all want more money. Stamkos wants 10 million. Lucic gets 6-7 million. Eriksson can get 5.5-6.5 million. Then Winnipeg declines because Gaunce isn't that good of a prospect and its undervaluing patrik laine. Islanders decline because Harmonic wants to stay an islander now. Also Sbisa isn't that good and the chances of the 2nd rounder being good are slim. The one to St.louis they deny because Pietrangelo is a top 2 dman. They don't need two 4th liners. And the 1st  won't be good if the Canucks have this lineup. The Canucks would probably be overcap and non of the trades and signings would work. Also laine plays left wing. Also you need a tag on the title [Proposal]

This guy basically summed it up perfectly. I do like the decisions you wanna make though, so good job in that regard. Have a nice day!

Nothing is over the top dumb in the CDC proposals section. I bet just through the first page you will find proposals that are even worse than the ones you proposed. So yeah short of posting Sbisa for McDavid everyone is going to assume these are real attempts at proposals.

stamkos, lucia eriksson all want waaaaayy more money as others have pointed out.I like those players too at their actual price, we won't fit them all under the cap.

winnipeg and islanders will for sure not do those trades. In all honesty Bo Horvat + 5th would need to be the trade to get you Laine - he just won the World championship MVP as an 18yr old.

Why do I feel like this was a serious proposal until you realized you would get flamed, so then you changed it to a parody thread. If you were offering insane things I might buy into it, but it just seems like your close to real trades(ish) but just obviously a Canuck Homer. Regardless of this being in jest or serious, it's bad and should be left to alone.

For the record though, the team you constructed is killer though. So good on you.

these trades probably won't even work in NHL 16 lol

okay so the blues want to give away a top dman for Dorsett lol how high do you value Dorsett? Linden's quote of calling Dorsett a foundational piece must have really got to you lol

Dorsett - the guy is a career 4th liner

Burrows- is on the decline, no longer plays the right way

if we had this line up we wouldn't finish last so why would blues do this lol why???????????????????? would blues sit there wanting Dorsett, the only team that hypes up Dorsett is our maangement, teams are not desperate for a Dorsett, his type are always available in the market every year- EXAMPLE winnick, Fehr, etc etc

I think you need to do a little more research on what guys are signing for. Even with injury, Stamkos will get between 8 - 10 million per year, depending on team that he wants to be on.

Eriksson is likely around 5.5 million to 6 million range.

Lucic will likely get 6 - 7 million and is looking for maximum length contract.

To Winnipeg, our 5th, Gaunce, And?, And?, And? You're a few assets light on that proposal

Harmonic has rescinded his trade request, so won't bother getting into what it wold really cost, its a moot point.

Pietrangelo isn't going anywhere for a 1st in a predicted, weak draft year. Offer would begin with our 5th this year and probably Tanev or more. You could try and throw Burrows in, but St Louis is not the team that needs help with getting to the cap floor. Go through GeneralFanager and see which teams will probably have trouble getting to the cap floor, who might be interested in a guy who will have a 4.5 million hit, but only cost 3 million.

Great to try and improve the team through trade, but you need to be a little more realistic with what teams will want back for assets. This isn't a fantasy league with all trading restrictions removed :)
