-Vintage Canuck-
Canucks along with Blackhawks and Sabres were the three teams that were really interested in signing Kempny.
Bur14Kes17
Why???? Because theyre the Blackhawks and they'll probably get Shipachyov next as well.

King Heffy
Hawks don't have a lot of depth on the blueline. Kempny goes to a strong team where he'll be given a chance to make a contribution. Good fit for both sides.

Ossi Vaananen
Just means another cap dump for Chicago. They'll unload this offseason while promoting young guys like Pokka and slide in European adds like Kempny. Truly incredible how they can move so much assets and stay competitive in a cap system. ItsMillerTime
Bet he gets traded 2 years from now. If pokka becomes good he will be a top 6 Dman. He came to Vancouver he would be a top 4/

Easy to do if you have Toewes, Kane, Hossa, Keith, Seabrooke, Hjalmarsson, and Crawford as your core and the best coach in the NHL as your coach. Just rely on those guys to win you games and get you in to the playoffs. Once in the playoffs, play them 20-30 minutes a game, basically half of the game. In my opinion, Stan Bowman definitely hasn't been too bad but he is getting way too much credit because he didn't draft or sign any of the core players. If you look at some of the trades that he made, they aren't great either. Traded away Sharp for nothing. Traded away Ladd and Byfuglien for basically nothing on their roster right now. He did draft some good players but he got more lucky than good I think: 2010: Basically no one. 2011: Saad in 2nd round and Shaw in 5th round. Shaw is great but getting him in the 5th is more luck than good. Saad was definitely a great pick. 2012: Teravainen in the first round. Too early to tell if he will reach his potential. 2013 and on: Too early to tell but not one sticks out so far . I actually think that despite not winning the cup, St. Louis is the franchise that has been truly incredible in the way they have been able to compete for so long without almost never drafting in top 3. They almost never pick top 5 but they always find good players in the draft to be able to ice a very deep team that can compete. Winning the cup has so much factor and luck involved and you do need a superstar or two to win the cup and St. Louis hasn't been lucky enough to find an elite level super star like Toewes and Kane. I was looking at their drafting and in almost every year, they find a real good NHL players Fabbri, Parayko, Jaskin, Tarasenko, and Schwartz (in the same year). All Stan Bowman had to do was to sign Toewes and Kane to the max contract and find a way to keep Keith, Seabrooke, and Hjalmarsson in defence to keep a competitive team. Not very hard. Kempny would probably have equal opportunity to play in Chicago, Vancouver and Buffalo but there's a greater opportunity for winning in Chicago. Plus, I read somewhere that Chicago was the first team in on Kempny, maybe that meant something to him.

It's absolutely shocking how Chicago can still remain competitive while having poor asset management. But hey, a team with Keith's, Toews's, Kane's, Seabrook's, Panarin's and scoring depth can get you just that.

Actually, I figured Chicago had the best chance to sign him considering he'd have a pretty reasonable opportunity to make a great team. And there were rumours last month even that he was close with Chicago already. He'd actually have less chance to make our roster, and we're not exactly cup contenders at the moment. Buffalo's in the same competitive boat as us at the immediate moment.
