OTTAWA – Ottawa Senators (@Senators) general manager Pierre Dorion announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forward Tom Pyatt on a one-year, two-way contract. The contract will carry an annual value of $800,000 in the National Hockey League and $200,000 in the American Hockey League.

“We’re very pleased that Tom has committed to our organization for next season,” said Dorion. “He has already accumulated a significant amount of experience at both the American and National Hockey League levels and provides us with solid depth at forward. Having spent his last two seasons playing professionally in Switzerland, members of our coaching staff are familiar with his versatility. We’re looking forward to seeing him in training camp.”

A native of Thunder Bay, Ont., Pyatt has spent the last two seasons playing with Geneve Servette of the Swiss-A League and ranked fourth in team scoring last season with 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) while accruing eight penalty minutes in 42 games. He recorded 62 points (22 goals, 40 assists) and 18 penalty minutes in 92 games over his two seasons in Switzerland’s top hockey league.

Originally drafted in the fourth round, 107th overall, by the New York Rangers in the 2005 NHL Draft, Pyatt, 29, has played 245 NHL games with the Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning, recording 54 points (27 goals, 27 assists) and 43 penalty minutes. He has also registered four points (two goals, two assists) and two penalty minutes over 26 NHL post-season contests.

Injury call up at best

I don't think he will complain. He is going to still be making 200K USD playing the game he loves if he's in the minors.

Solid deal for him.
