People here treat our players like trash. It's tiring...

He has trade value.

Why trade Hansen? The guy has been nothing but a loyal and hardworking warrior for the Canucks his entire career. You don't just get rid of guys like that who had to work his way through the ranks to make it to where he is now. Just because his value is at an all time high? So what? What does that say to the players on the team when you trade away a guy like Jannik Hansen who worked his butt of to get to where he is today?

I dont think Hansen is worth a 1st round pick but lets say some insane GM offers you hansen for a 1st round pick .Your telling me you wont accept it?

For a 2nd I will think about it. High 2nd I would def take it.

You remind me of the guy who had a fire sale just in case he actually had a fire.

You're undervaluing Hansen, chum. Right now he is has more value to us than what he could bring back in a trade.

Also wanted to add, hockey is a business. I dont care if you worked hard to get up. If a team wants you, and they offer a deal that Benning likes, you take it.

We all know hockey is a business and the players also understand it.

I wouldn't. He's worth more to us than a late first lotto ticket.

He's worth more to us than any gm is likely to give up.

We'll likely move him the year his contract is expiring. And that's fine as we'll likely no longer have room for him.

If it's a third coming back I'm fine with a third and another 1.5 years of his service.

This years draft is quite deep apparently (correct me if im wrong). Thats why im willing to move him now if a team ever offers me a late first or early 2nd.

A top 10 pick, yes you take it and run.

A 1st round pick doesn't mean a 1st line or top pairing guy though.

Look at Etem, Jensen, Kassian, Hodgson, Sbisa, Shinkaruk, Gaunce, Baertschi just to name a few from recent memory who've been through the organization.

Are ANY of those guys more valuable than Hansen?

Hansen is a 29 year old on a steal of a contract. A draft pick that helps the Canucks in 3-5 years isn't really where Benning would look for value out of a high value guy like Hansen.

No way a GM offers a top 10. Thats just insane and unrealistic. Like at most i can see a GM offering in the late 20's. I will honestly take that. In the future(2 yrs) i can see CDC members raging how we only traded hansen for a 4th-5th round pick when he was once worth perhaps a 2nd.

I value Bear cheese wayyyy more than hansen. Etem and hansen ehhh more or less the same. Thats how I see it. U may disagree.

You are wrong. There's a very solid top ~15 and then a drop. After that it's largely a crap shoot.

As I said, no gm will offer a top 15 pick and hansen is worth more to us than the drop off after ~15.

Hansen is what we hope Etem can turn in to (with more size). He's not there yet.

I still think we should move him. His value will drop to a 4th round 5th round pick in a few years i feel.

Also, with an expansion happening in the next few years, if we want to keep him we have to protect him. We MIGHT not be able to protect him.

Then we lose him instead of someone more valuable.

Then why not trade him and get a 2nd round pick back or something?

I feel like on this forum im deemed as a Jost lover and a Hansen hater LOL xD (I just wanna trade Hansen at decent value thats all) xD

Let's trade all our players for picks so we don't lose anyone! Great idea.

As far as Hansen for a late 1st? That pick has a 25% shot of being a 100+ game nhl player. Probably a 5% shot at being a better player than Hansen.

Only reason to move a good player for a late pick is for cap space. Hansen is paid like an elite 4th liner and was our 3rd best forward last year. If you want to win games you don't trade that away for a 1 in 20 shot at an upgrade (5 years down the road).

Shinkaruk, McCann, and Boeser all had that 25% chance of playing 100+ games. I think they all end up reaching that mark. And at worst they end up getting flipped for more proven players.

Our scouts have been doing a good job with these picks lately. If we can get a pick around 20 for Hansen it has to be considered.

Damn son

DID I SAY TO TRADE ALL OUR PLAYERS???

CLEARLY i said Hansen. Is Hansen everyone????

Do I want to win games? Of course I do. But with our team, I dont see us making the playoffs. I prefer building it from the draft. But again, I cant judge yet. Benning may be able to get some good FA.

And with Benning scouting skills, Im sure he can get us one heck of a player in late first round and early 2nd. Hell maybe even mid or late 2nd. You know what I mean?

Because there's actual hockey games to play.

This isn't just some exercise in collecting assets. And as pointed out the chances of that 2nd turning in to something as good as Hansen, even in~5 years, is quite low.

He's worth more to the team playing for us than we'd get back in trade.

Trading Hansen? Only for a massive overpayment, he's too valuable to us otherwise. A 20g tenacious defender that can play up and down the lineup should not be let go of easily.

15th overall pick or higher and I think the Canucks should consider it, if not then it's in the team's best interest to keep him. I don't see a GM offering that kind of deal for Hansen, so it's highly unlikely  (in my opinion) they trade him.
