This exactly, Centers and Center hybrids being all the proverbial rage....I just don't see how thsi helps us on the back end with offense.

We need offense.  Not more stay at home.

So we traded offense for...yet more stay at home.

If the vision Benning is putting together happens on the ice, this team will be less offensive and more boring to watch than the 2002/2003 Jersey Devils

I think there is a lot more to this trade then offense. Defense needs to play defense first. Gudbranson is young and big. Yeah he's not offense, however his defense would open up offensive abilities for Hutton or maybe this college guy we signed. Even Jordan subban would benefit from having a bigger defenseman with him. Honestly I think this is a good trade. Sure giving up a second sucks, but with that being said you get a second round pick who could be okay or maybe even sucks, you never know for a defenseman who is already nhl proven and young. It was a need for a need.

I just hope we can some how get a second round pick in a trade. JB's hypocritical ass even said he'd like to keep his picks this year because the draft is deep in talent.

He's a friggin liar. We all say his talent is drafting but how can he draft if he keeps giving away picks.

Look at the possible defender combinations and ask, 'where are the points going to come from'? This is a real

head scratcher .Had 2 goals, 7 assists last season, jeezus , Big guy, 24, cap friendly one year, then RFA.

Time will tell.

Benning pays fair value. Gillis didn't.

Benning works as a GM. Gillis doesn't.

Gillis is fired. He had nothing to do with this trade and if Gillis was the worst of all time it doesn't make Benning great by default.

I evaluate JB on his own, not on how much I like or hate anyone else.

Your player assessment is garbage for someone who parrots the youth movement around here.

Comparing him to Sbisa was an overreaction.

But me wanting a youth movement doesn't really apply here since we traded McCann and a high 2nd to get a 24 year old.

I understand that the writing was on the wall for McCann, but that 33rd pick represents alot of value with good scouting. That's what I'm more hung up on. It could potentially be a McCann and Demko type of value for example, when all is said and done. That's a hefty price.

How the hell do you figure that he was expendable? This team is starved for offense and quality C prospects. He could of been expendable had we won Matthews, sure.

Because JB and Trevor don't think he has the jam to be an effective NHL'r. Same with Jensen and Shinkaruk.

He's a pretty good judge of young talent. Virtanen, Boeser, Demko, Tryamkin.

JB doesn't want soft guys. They don't think he can handle the grind and is too small. Like Jordan Schroeder.

Y'all quit whining about the trade. We pretty much eliminated our problem of having no RHD after Tanev that plays on the right side. Gudbranson with Tryamkin could mean the team can finally stop being pushed around when it comes to the playoffs. Yes, it costed us a 2nd round pick + McCann, but you'll have to realize that we need to utilize what we have already and build on it.

Like the gist of the deal - McCann for Gudbranson bit - but certainly not the 2nd and 4th.

....AND AGAIN...JB just proving again why he is a terrible trade evaluator when it comes to value. McCann for Gudbranson would be OK as is one for one. But 33rd overall thrown away makes no sense.

Gudbranson's ceiling has been reached. He's a solid 3rd pair dman and a fill in top 4 guy who might be a regular 2nd pair guy some day but that's not a given. Right hand shot helps as well back there but I don't like this deal considering the 2nd. Giving up potential + excess value for a lesser player who has a lower ceiling isn't going to cut it for any franchise. JB better stop making these sorts of deals. Only good one he did was the Baertschi deal but that's because the value somehow was even and Calgary didn't get JB to overpay. Everything else has been overpayments and gross deals.

...like the addition of Gudbranson but not at the expense of adding in a 2nd for no reason. Another case of JB being JB.

Trading McCann is understandable but this year's 2nd which is basically is low 1st?

Also looking at Gudbarnson's point production and he looks like another Luca Sbisa. The team should have just kept Corrado.

He's not a big point producer that's not his game, look at the stats from his draft year he only put up about 0.5 Pts/game and was still taken 3rd overall!

Tanev, Gudbranson, Hutton. Sounds not bad actually.

Tanev, Edler, Tryamkin, Hutton, Gudbranson, Sbisa, Biega.

I like it but we still lack offense from the blueline. Time will tell.

And to everybody hating on JB.. You have to give assets to get assets. The thought of having two monsters in Tryamkin and Gudbranson on our blueline already has me drooling. We need that to compete in the west.

2.  Dubois is likely to be a bust.  Drafting him only makes this trade worse.

3,  Vey and Granlund are marginal NHLers at best.

4.  Are any of them sober?

5.  This is a good thing, no argument.

6.  Leaving us with no leadership on the back end.

7.  Couldn't we have given something else, like Granlund or something?  Adding a 2nd via trade is likely going to be a lot later than our own.

Haha, was just reading the comments of Florida Panthers fans and they're angry because they've traded away their 'future captain'. I laughed because they have Ekblad and others that are better candidates.

And Dubois is a likely bust? State your reasoning. Makes this trade worse? Bro, i'll take Dubois over McCann ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. ANY DAMN DAY. 6'3 205lbs can play wing or center who can score goals and create plays while being physical also a 200 ft player which McCann is NOT.

And no leadership in the backend? What is Edler then? Or Tanev?

And we aren't just going to throw Granlund, we just acquired him and he obviously JB thought his potential far suceeded McCann's. We also have the pieces to acquire a 2nd which isn't a problem. Toronto, ARZ, Jets, Tampa all have 2nd's we can trade for. Etem, Hansen, etc.
