Dubust produced because he plays in a soft league and had a hot streak to end the season.  He'll be a 3rd liner in the NHL.  Edler and Tanev are good supporting guys but Hamhuis was a huge leader in the room and it's a huge loss.  Tanev isn't exactly a veteran and Edler does better in a supporting role.

You also contradict yourself by saying we aren't going to throw in Granlund then throw him in as a potential move for a 2nd.  Just skip the middleman and throw the pylon in instead of the 2nd in the first place.

I can't wait until Lucic goes to free agency and Benning signs him. Your posts will be the stuff of legend...

This team has wanted Gudbranson for the past 5 years - from Gillis to Benning.

He's a beast - that will look good no matter who you put him beside.

Hutton Gudbranson - great complement

Edler Gudbranson - great complement

Tryamkin Gudbranson - beast of a shutdown pairing - great complement

Pedan Gudbranson - keep your goddamn head up - great complement.

Benning just made this team a hell of a  lot more difficult to play against.

A second round pick with a GM who's good at scouting has alot of value. Thatcher Demko is one example of that picks value.

Pretty sure Benning picked McCann as well

So TSN reporting that we sent our 2017 second rounder, not 2016s.. Soooo, whats the problem?  That 2017 pick is replaced with the pick coming back from Columbus for Torts..

More acceptable then.  I can live with that as long as Benning replaces the pick if Columbus defers again.

NO. NO. JUST STOP RIGHT THERE

We don't know that!

WE DON'T.

YOU don't use that argument for determining whether a player becomes a bust or not.. And after the worlds tell me. Just tell me. Why isn't Tanev a leader? He's a veteran presence. He's only 25 but still is one. Didn't he and Hamhuis mentor Hutton?

And I accidentally included Granlund, edited that part out. But please, don't come and say that Dubois is a bust bc he plays in a soft league.

Florida's d is absolutely bad now without Gudbranson. They've got Ekblad and then .... Petrovic. After? Gudbranson was the reason why their d excelled. He was a great at defending. He's a "I'll do whatever it takes" kind of man. He's 6'5, punishing! Big, and he's not a goon. He fights when he needs to.

I can't help but notice a lot the same posters  bitching about this trade are the same ones that have been screaming to get a big young RHDman for years... Just an observation.

Wouldn't that mean that JB sees more value in Guddy than McCann & the players available at 33rd pick?

I would hope it means Florida didn't really wanna trade him and we had to overpay to get him.

If he's as solid as everyone says I don't know why they'd get rid of him for a center. Especially with Campbell and Mitchell being UFAs.

The fact that he's a UFA next season scares me. I hope that means Benning doesn't overpay to get him locked up like he's done with other deals.

RFA you mean. He's only 24.

He has the highest bust potential out of everyone we're linked to.  Tkachuk is a safer pick and is a playoff performer to boot.  Tanev's a good player but this defense is dangerously young.

Fantastic move... Gudbrandson, Tryamkin, Pedan... still need a ppqb but love the bash bros Benning is accumulating on the back end.

Will the Canucks have the slowest defense in the league next year? Yes, one or two defensive dmen with size and grit is OK, but the league is getting faster and more skilled.

Can't understand the overreaction on this board, but it doesn't surprise me.

The fact is, we got a big mean defenceman that can play 26 min a game for an unproven 2nd round pick and a undersized kid that currently belongs in the AHL. I think we overpayed by a 4th round pick, but realistically that's not a big deal.
