AriGold
CDC is chalk full of idiots.. If you didn't know that then read what most people are saying in this thread. Unreal..

SilentSam
I like Mcann , has great potential.. But Gudbranson brings us into the present.. A great addition to our D core. this might not be Christmas,. But feels like I just ate a really fantastic steak, .every ounce of it.
CRAZY_4_NAZZY
No room for McCann...will miss his skill though, but it was evident that his future was diminished after we secured the 5th overall pick. Gudbranson represents everything we need on the backend. Big, strong, mobile, punishing. He keeps teams accountable and also makes us lineup against the Kings, Ducks and Sharks a lot better. I love this deal..regardless of the picks this year or not.

Noble 6
I really like this trade. Losing McCann is tough to swallow, as he was maybe my favorite young player, but this is a trade that needed to be done. I wish McCann all the best in Florida. In order to acquire a young, right handed, top-4 defenseman, you have to overpay at least a little bit. They are the most sought after commodity in the league. Adding a guy like Gudranson to our current and future defense improves us a lot. He is a physical, shut down gay that is very difficult to play against. I think the idea here is to have him play with Hutton maybe next year and down the line. The team that we are trying to build is one that is built for the Playoffs. Gudbranson adds to that on the backend. He fills a positional hole and a team need with his physicality. This gets me even more excited for the Draft. Benning will want to get into the 2nd round at least. This might open a potential Edler trade that could land us at least one more pick in the top 60. pluralsight
Good trade. Gotta love all the posters that are more upset with trading the 2nd than McCann, a player who did reasonably well for a 19 year old on a bad team. CDC continues to overvalue draft picks for young players that are ready to play and suit our needs. Welcome Gudbranson.
Junkyard Dog
Gudbranson is a good DFD and has great character. Still has upside but isn't great offensively. He has an important player for Florida this season and in the playoffs. Lead Panthers in TOI during the playoffs(Played like 35 minutes in last 2 games) and 4th during the regular season for the cats. Plays with a level of physicality that is going to be welcomed here, he skates well for his size and improves us defensively. If Gudbranson is good enough to play in Florida's top 4 then he will be more than good enough to play in ours. We are going to have a big defense core moving forward. We aren't going to have an offensive back end though. Idk if he's worth the amount of youth we have given up, considering our circumstances. Losing McCann and this years 2nd is tough. McCann has upside and that 2nd was a good pick consider JB appears to be a draft wiz. I was fine with trading McCann. A 24 year old RH top 4 D would cost significant value. He alone wouldn't of landed Gudbranson but McCann and that 33rd? Under our circumstances of trying to get younger I have mixed feelings. We will just have to see how it plays out next year. Yes, one or two defensive dmen with size and grit is OK, but the league is getting faster and more skilled. Bigger, faster and more skilled. Plus none of those guys would be "slow." DeNiro
3 minutes ago, Junkyard Dog said: I mean Gudbranson is a good defenseman... BUT under our circumstances can we afford to give up that much youth? 2017 makes this trade better. 2016 idk. I am mixed about this trade. JB has more work to do if he wants us to be competitive again. Hopefully his moves and acquisitions work out next season otherwise . My initial reaction was that this doesn't solve our need for a number 1 puck mover. If this is the type of D-man Benning wanted, could we not have traded down, taken Chychrun and kept our 2nd? The difference is obviously development time though which is probably ownership putting pressure on him to build a winner in less time.

Draft. Draft. Draft. Technically this isn't a total speed up of rebuild. It has been carefully done to fill in the gaps.

He's a pretty good judge of young talent. Virtanen, Boeser, Demko, Tryamkin. JB doesn't want soft guys. They don't think he can handle the grind and is too small. Like Jordan Schroeder. I'm sorry but Jared McCann is far from soft..He was fighting back against Getzlaf for &^@#s sakes. They rushed him into the league when he was still far from filled out so no $&!# he wasn't strong enough.
GoBoGo53
How in the world is this a good trade? Travis Yost @travisyost 31m31 minutes ago Stay at home defender Erik Gudbranson's shots against impact comparable to Jared Cowen and Nate Guenin. He's not who you think he is. 64 retweets51 likes Reply Retweet 64 Like 51 More User Actions Follow Travis Yost@travisyost And that's his supposed strength. His EV scoring rates are Adam McQuaid and Luca Sbisa. This is just lunacy. Gudbranson's shot metrics are so piss poor. They suggest he is a terrible defender. Stay at homes don't have to be fast, they need exceptional outlet passes though if we're to play Willies style.
