Rank the Canuck Defencemen ( Discussion)

Recommended Posts

Well, with all the negative chatter, I am going to look at this glass 3/4 full so here is my Canuck Defencemen Depth Chart

1. Chris Tanev (26)

2. Alex Edler (30)

3. Erik Gudbranson (24)

4. Dan Hamhuis (33)

5. Ben Hutton (22)

6. Nikita Tryamkin (21)

7. Luca Sbisa (26)

8. Alex Biega (28)

9. Andrey Pedan (22)

10. Jordan Subban (21)

11. Troy Stecher (22)

12. Guillaume Brisebois (19)

I have included Hamhuis (Because I think we should sign him - no NTC) and excluded Weber and Bartkowski (better options from within)

What is our move? Do we resign Hamhuis? Do we move Edler or Sbisa? Could we sign another veteran Offensive Defenceman?

Where is Larsen? (I am thinking he has decided to stay in the KHL?) Does Subban have a future here?

And the Biggest question I have regardless if we sign Hamhuis or not is..............drum roll.............................................................................

Who do we protect in the expansion draft?

Love to see your lists!

1) Tanev- smooth first pass, can take a hit, great positioning, no offence though

2) Hutton- great hands, can really dangle the puck, shown flashes of top offensive d, but very weak in his defensive positioning right now

3) GudBrandson- for once we will have a physical, intimidating canadian big boy who can actually play big minutes. He also fights!

4) Trymakin- great reach, is physical and seems to skate smoothly. Could be a gem of a find by JB

Dont really care too much about the rest, although Subban and Olsen intrigue me but they will be long term projects.

Edler(+avg prospect - Kenins type) to Washington for Orpik(albatross, 3 more yrs..ok for our timeline), Bowey.

Then Tanev to Edm for #4 OA selection.

Like to revamp the whole D, & starting out bigger, w/ more NA'n identity.

If Tanev is going to the same division they better pay more than a 4th overall

There is no way Erik Gudbranson is 3ed............

The sad fact is the Canucks have 2 top 4 d-men.

Erik Gudbranson is a stay at home d-man that cant protect his home.

1) Alex Edler

2) Chris Tanev

3) Luca Sbisa

4) Ben Hutton

5) Erik Gudbranson

6) Nikita Tryamkin

7) Jordan Subban

11) Ashton Sautner

12) Guillaume Brisebois

Don't get High on Erik this year boys.

He is not what this team needs.

His definsive zone coverage is awful his offensive mind is behind.

Weber has a better eye for the net.

10. Guillaume Brisebois

11. Luca Sbisa (Trash)

I did not include Hamhuis because he has yet to resign.  If that happens he would be ranked 5th.  I would take Hutton right now slightly over Gudbranson because the offensive side.

Whos offensive side are you talking about?

Hutton or Gudbranson.

Both have very limited offensive side.

And Gudbransons offensive is still waiting to see if he can get more then 1 point for evey 7 games he plays. Heck ill just like him to stay healthy and play a full 75-82 games.

I meant Ben Hutton, lol Ben Button.  The familiarity with the system, and his surprising ease to the NHL style of play.  Gudbranson is a great addition regardless if he isn't a true franchise defensemen.
