Benning and Hamhuis still talking...

Just listening to Hockey Central, interview with Benning. Said they're talking with Hamhuis and wants to sign him.

Excellent!

...which leads me to believe someone else might be on the block trade-wise?

Not a bad defensive core if he does get signed.

Switch Hutton and Hamhuis, and we're good.

IMO Sbisa or Pedan is being traded.

As much as we're all keen on getting rid of Edler, don't forget that next to Hutton he's the only other Dman in the lineup who might actually get us some points back there.

I'd say Sbisa for sure is on the block.  The question is whether anyone would actually want him - let alone as to whether we'd get a return or not.

Hammer's value might not be where it once was.  But if he's utilized in the right way (not babysitting AHL'ers), then he still holds considerable value to any team including the Canucks.

I believe he could easily get a 4mil + 4 year deal from some club.  Let's hope he takes yet another discount to stay here.  Moving one of Edler/Sbisa for cap space/prospects/picks would open a roster spot and cap room for Hammer!

He stated on the call that he thinks Gudbranson is perfect to play with Hutton, so its more like:

Edler - Tanev

Hutton - Gudbranson

Hamhuis - Tryamkin

+ Spare part / bench warmer to be determined.

If we have learned anything over the last few years (some on here probably haven't), you can't ever have too many defense.

What I listed on here is projected placements that are probably on JB's office wall.

Pick who will be injured during training will get injured and not be ready when the season starts. That used to be easy with One Nut Sami, but alas, he retired making it harder to predict!

Every good team needs a veteran D-Man who provides leadership, is reliable, and has been there, done that at all levels of play.

Hammer, far and away, is the only one who fills that bill.

I'm thinking Sbiza is up for grabs.

Benning said Hutton is gonna be playing with Gudbranson. I can't help but wonder if Edler is gonna be on the market? Canucks are really tight to the cap especially if a few players need to be signed. also Sbisa ain't in this lineup.

Yay.. hopefully its a home town discount. He would be a good mentor for Nikita.

I think Sbisa is the odd man out, JB will probably try and get a 2nd round pick for him.

They might even pickup some of his salary for that deal. Or add a prospect into the mix, they have a few to pick from, eh?
