What is Bachman worth?

Since both Gartieg and Demko have signed professional contracts with the Canucks, you have to assume that those 2 are the planned tandem in Utica for the coming season.

Cannata is an RFA so he's either traded off or heads to Europe.

That leaves Bachman though who has another year remaining at 575k. He's gotta be in some kinda trade talks, doesn't he?

And if so, what's he worth? He's actually pretty decent and super cheap. Definitely not a #1 but he has shown he can play at the NHL level with decent enough stats for a backup.

He's worth nothing, every team knows he'll have to clear waivers to start the year, so he's worth absolutely nothing

He's still gotta be moved though. Unless Utica plans to run 3 goalies. Have to think someone grabs him. Especially if the price is low.

Yea, free off waivers, you can always send Bachman or one of the other goalies to the ECHL.   Gartieg might do better being a starter in a lower tier league then sitting on the bench watching.  Bachman won't be traded, he's worth nothing, unless it's for another old AHL veteran

Garteig will be in the ECHL. I thought this was already cleared up.

You can't put a price tag on the mentorship that Bachman could offer Demko.  Thatcher is the future of this club and having a seasoned veteran to guide him through his first pro year is a worthy investment imo.

Garteig starts in the ECHL,  Demko/Bachman split Utica duty about 50/50, and Marky/Miller also split about 50/50 until Miller is dealt at deadline for a 2nd.

I think we need to keep him.  Miller or Markstrom will be injured at some point.  I know the idea the Demko gets the call up is very exciting to some people.  But someone with more experience would be better this year at least.

What do you think a 28 year old goalie with a grand total of 43 NHL appearances with a career .903 S% is worth? For comparison Lack got us a 3rd round pick at age 27 with 82 NHL games and a career .914 S%.

As was noted in the Garteig thread, he may well be starting in the ECHL to get more minutes. Bachman would split duties with Demko in that case, and it worth little to nothing otherwise. At most, maybe he's moved to another team to help with their AHL affiliate, but he won't be picked up by anyone to play in the NHL.

1.  As others have noted, Garteig will be in the ECHL this season.

2.  As has been noted, Cannata is an UFA.  It doesn't matter in any case.  He won't be traded and won't be signed by the Canucks, so he can sign elsewhere or go to Europe.

3.  The team should have at least 5 goalies in the system (2 in Vancouver, 2 in Utica, at least one more available for when injuries strike) so there's really no need to dump a goalie.

4.  I'd expect that the return if Bachman were to be traded would be a career minor leaguer.
