He was cheap, as was Willie D.  Both guys were pretending to be confident NHL coaches.  As soon as things got ramped up, they melted away.

They’ve never cheaped out on coaches before, why the last few years?

A coach who was getting chatter about COTY and almost made the AS game and first in the Pacific until major injuries hit us again, and suddenly he's a junior coach?

I miss the old positive Alf who doesn't have his head up...

The main reason we didn't keep Baertschi up was because there was no room for him on PP2.

We've been playing Roussel on PP2 for almost the whole season now it seems for some reason.. maybe it's time to bring Baertschi back.

I’m with you on that one! I wonder if Green even wants him in the lineup though. Maybe Baers agent ticked JB off too, who knows. Just doesn’t seem like Baer will ever get a shot on this team again

Who’s knows. Maybe Greens been a temp this whole time haha. I know it doesn’t mean much but I’ll continue to support him while he’s behind the bench. We will just see what happens over the next year. He’ll be back next year if they make the playoffs. We’ll see what happens Alf. In the meantime we should be cheering our team on instead of expecting or wishing for a change behind the bench.

Baertschi left the game with the athletic trainer in the second period. Hope it's not concussion related, guy can't catch a break.

I could see a rebuilding team like LA take him off our hands for a possible draft pick.
I think Sven’s chances of rejoining the Canucks are worse this fall than last fall.
Nice guy from what I can see, but he doesn’t fit on an elite NHL team.

Canucks tried to move Baertschi instead of Schaller's expiring contract in the Toffoli deal but LA wasn't interested.

I would rather see Baertschi right now in our bottom-6 than Roussel. People forget he's pretty solid defensively, and while he won't be able to crack our top-6, he'd be a great fit alongside Sutter and Gaudette.

We need Roussel's grit than another finesse skilled winger.

Nothing but class from Sven which we have grown to expect in Utica.

He has been a very good soldier for the Canucks.

I always felt that he should have remained on the NHL roster.

High skill, high IQ, works hard on his 2-way game, doesn't just play the perimeter game anymore... yet potentially just 1 hit away from ending his career (and causing even more cap issues with the Canucks).

tbh I don't really know what happened here. Does anyone have a clear, simple explanation as to why Sven fell out of favour with Green?

Seems determined to make the show. It'll be good to have a motivated Baertschi to call on if the injury bug hits our top 9 in the playoffs. (ya know... assuming they happen). The writings been on the wall for him since being cut out of camp, and the progression of our forward prospects as the season progressed, but a full(ish, not his fault), strong AHL season, and if he does get a chance and runs with it, it makes him a more tradeable chip to a rebuilding team. Not saying we'll get much out of it, but at least we'll be able to clear out some cap.

He doesn’t play a style that Green values. Too soft on the puck.
