higgyfan
Gaunce, playing I believe on the 4th line is 6th in team pts I keep reminding folks that Gauncer was drafted 2nd overall into the OHL and was considered a goal scorer. Moving him to the wing was a great idea that (hopefully) will spark his offensive game. I think he will end up having a better career than a lot of people think. He's a keeper.
elvis15
I agree, he'll have better upside as a wing, even if he could be a very effective bottom 6 center.
people please
15 points in 35 games isn't that bad, kesler had 11 in his first 33 AHL games.

Kesler (1984) - 11 pts 33 games in 03-04 Gaunce (1994) - 15 points 35 games in 14-15
Erik Karlsson
I think he should be in the AHL atleast one more year with top 6 minutes before he makes the NHL.
Ossi Vaananen
Looked good tonight, had 1 assist playing on a line with Jeffery.
Canucks1219
First year in the pros, switched to the wing, playing in the bottom-6... He's done quite well in his new role. He has 9 points (3g, 6a) in his last 14 games (15 games including the first game in December).

Odd.
Gaunce is has very good offensive skills. I'm glad he's thriving. And I'm hearing that he's playing on the wing? If that's the case, we could have him convert into a winger for us.
Derp...
From what I gather his work ethic is pretty darn good on the ice. Compete's almost every shift. That's what you want from young guys
Boudrias
Head up and looking for the play from what I can see. Big kid who is learning how to use his body to the max. Type of player who should do well in the Pacific Div.
TOMapleLaughs
Frack, I wanted him to be at least a checking center, not a bottom-6 winger. Bottom-6 wingers are a dime-a-dozen commodity in the NHL.

Bottom-6 wingers are a dime-a-dozen commodity in the NHL. Middle 6 winger? Also this move to wing could be merely a developmental/strategic move and he could end up back at C further down the line. JamesB
Frack, I wanted him to be at least a checking center, not a bottom-6 winger. Bottom-6 wingers are a dime-a-dozen commodity in the NHL. Center is a tougher position to play well and Gaunce was not doing well enough at the center position. I like Gaunce but it looks to me like his ceiling is probably as a defensively responsible bottom 6 winger in the NHL. But frankly, there is no guarantee he will even make the NHL. Rollieo Del Fuego
Gaunce will make the NHL, he has too much going for him to miss. Smarts, shot, top end speed and size. He just needs to pick up the decision making pace and hop on his horse in 3 quick steps. It will happen...probably next year when he's 21. If not then by 23 years old for sure. Rollieo Del Fuego
If we are rolling 4 lines the rest of this year and onward then we don't have a bottom 2 lines anyway. It's more like a bottom 3 lines until someone can step up and produce like the Sedins. Gaunce on a checking line would work fine.
snizzle_
Forgotten? Seems his thread here is pretty routinely commented in.... With the addition of 4 shiny new 1st round picks since, he's become somewhat of a novelty pick. People like newer shinier things and Gaunce doesn't hold the same caché as a Dynamic Shinkaruk, a Bergeron like Horvat, an offensive McCann and a historical pick like Virtanen. People still follow him, its just so much has happen since his draft that he's been somewhat forgotten, ergo the monicker.

Agree but I don't think many here expected him to become a first line centre or winger when we drafted him. The top end I was hoping for was a shutdown centre who can score from the 2 line. When we got Horvat, Gaunce was pushed to wing but they may end up on the psuedo 2nd line in a year or two anyway: Gaunce / Horvat / Cassels would be a heck of a shutdown line.
