avelanch
I've been, and still am, high on Gaunce. his transition to the wing has been a great move for him, and once he makes the canucks he'll start generating a bunch of attention/love, much like horvat did this season. I think one more summer of working on foot speed for his first few steps and he'll be about ready to break into the lineup. Have always been really high on Gaunce as a prospect as well. Was impressed with his eye, hand coordination in camp and had generally good cruising speed. Just needed to get a little faster out of the gate and maybe be a little more physically aggressive along the boards. Hope he gets a look for 4th line winger in September! I don't think Gaunce will have as high a profile as Horvat, but I agree that he is a good prospect. I think the biggest thing for him is that he is not naturally a high intensity player. He needs to really remind himself to play with intensity, use his body, etc. every shift. I think that is why he was a healthy scratch earlier in the playoffs. One positive about Gaunce is that even when he does not play with intensity he is still very defensively responsible. Future third line with Gaunce, Cassels... and maybe Grenier looks good to me! I was thinking about a Gaunce-Cassels-Grenier line on the Canucks as well -- and maybe next year. Jim Jamieson in the Province said Cassels is up to 6-1 and 188, so that line would have good size. Grenier has improved his defence so that line would be very good defensively, and all three guys can provide secondary scoring. And Cassels and Grenier are natural high intensity players. No burners on the line but all decent skaters as well. Not bad for a 4th line. But the Canucks already have Dorsett as a 4th line winger and maybe Kenins. Not sure how it shakes out. I think if you put Cassels - Gaunce and a experience S#$t disturber like Dorsett on the right wing, you'd have a lineup that no one would want to play against.

canuckledraggin
http://video.canucks.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=628198 I remembered this video from the start of camp last year and thinking that neither of these guys had the slow foot speed that was being reported of them. I also couldn't tell which skater was which, until the camera panned up and you could see their numbers. I think Gaunce is a dark horse next year, but has a legit shot at the Canucks. Warhippy
I fondly recall pages 40 through 80 where everyone wanted to ship out Gaunce for whatever they could get and a few people including myself told them to calm down. Oh good times

Oh good times The turnaround in the fanbase has been rather remarkable, and credit to Gaunce for making many new believers on the strength of his play this year. The whole #Gaunce4gm thing over on HFBoards has been pretty funny to watch as well (especially given how down that entire board seemed to be on him not too long ago). I'm glad people are getting on board. Although there's a part of me that feels like the masses just discovered my favorite indie band.

Well put About the ONLY prospect I've been disappointed in for defending so much has been Jensen and as of now I've no issues seeing him go. But glad gaunce is proving us few right. He's gonna be a gem for sure. And the people offering Gaunce and a good pick for Ott a while back...damn funny to see them here behind him 100% now

Jensen has that elite skill. He's just not consistent and it probably infuriates him as much as it infuriates us. From personal experience, inconsistencies are as result of a bad fundamentals, and those aren't easy to fix, esp. given his window to make the NHL

Last season he tried to do too much himself, lost the puck and played rattled the whole game after that.

Gstank29
ANother strong game for Gaunce, was hard on the forecheck and layed some good hits. He seems to like to play down low and on the boards which is the type of player the Canucks need in order to compete. Gaunce looks like the type of player who would play well with 2 "skilled" players, he can retrieve the puck from the corners while his other two line mates can stay in the middle of the ice and look for a shooting/passing lane instead of go into the gritty areas. Overall I was Impressed with Gaunce but still see him at least half a year away from making an impact on the big club

desiboynux4lifee*******
I can see him traded at the draft for a decent pick. Hopefully a solid 15-24th first rounder, but who needs a gritty checker? Tough maybe a 2nd rounder?
