Maybe but I don't think Gaunce has done enough yet to be valuable. Im hoping this year is a big step in his development and he gets moved up the lineup a bit. He looked great in preseason but has dropped off recently like the rest of the team.

I hope not. As others have said, Gaunce is progressing very well. Eventually he will certainly move up in the lineup, even still, his work to date has been very good.

I really like Gaunce.  I think he's all class.  I too want to see him given more opportunity.  How about trying him with the Twins?

Why would you want Gaunce with the Twins? He is doing fine on the 4th. I would argue his TOI should be a minimum of 10 minutes a game. I prefer the Twins TOI is actually cut back to 18 minutes.

I think throwing Gaunce on a line with the twins or Horvat seems counter to his role. Gaunce excels in playing a bottom six role and I think we have many other players better suited to the top six role than Gaunce. Leave him on the bottom six and let him slowly but surely grow.

We hardly know what Gaunce's upside is. I don't like his 6 minutes of TOI either, I prefer 10 minutes. At some point I suspect he gets his chance thru a teammates injury. Also would prefer a tad more physicality.

He put his time in the NHL and is holding his own in the NHL and developing nicely.

For players with a minimum of 10 games, Gaunce has the second lowest GA/60 on the team. Dorsett and Skille have the highest GA/60.
For CF% he is ranked 7/19 players with a minimum of 10 games.
His CF is 3rd from the bottom (not generating much offense) but his CA is stellar (2nd, close to first).

Gaunce is doing a great job plugging up minutes and throwing his body around a bit (7th in hits). As he continues to refine his game, increase minutes, and add some offense he will be a very solid 3rd line player. At worst he is a good 4th line player already for us.

It's funny how perception works.  I've watched almost every game this year and I can't say I've noticed him defensively that much.  The stats, however, show that something's there, kind of like Virtanen - you didn't notice him defensively, but the stats show that whatever they are doing is working.  Overall, I wasn't impressed with Gaunce until these stats were pointed out.  Perhaps there is some justification for patience to see how he pans out over a couple or three seasons - as long as there aren't better choices for that roster spot (but not professional tryout contract guys - lets keep developing young talent)

I am in the same boat as you. I don't think he plays enough minutes, or has the type of game, that is particularly noticeable (good or bad). The stats at least show that he is plugging minutes at a cheap price, with upside to become a good player. While he isn't doing anything to help us win per se, he isn't contributing to the losses much either.

Gaunce plays a pretty safe game. We want more physicality out of him but he often passes in case he gets caught out of position. He was playing a much more physical game in the Calder run with Utica. He needs TOI and games played to establish himself. He is doing just fine.

I am a bit disappointed with the lack of playing time that Gaunce (and the rest of the 4th line) received yesterday.  He's a defensively reliable player that is good at face-offs..... so he should have at least been out on the PK.  Considering yesterday was the 2nd of the back-to-back, you'd assume that WD would have rolled 4 lines more.

Just in case someone mentions it, I don't believe the "Canucks had to protect the 1-0 lead".... since with that philosophy... you'll never play him when you're tied, when you're also down by 1-2.... meaning the only good time to play him would be if the Canucks were up or down by 5.
