Too much media weight on his 18 year old shoulders this camp. Way too much.

If you're talking about the fans comments, then that's not really much weight on Horvat. Maybe he sees some of the media comments but I think the team is probably pretty realistic with him. In particular he knows he has a great opportunity waiting for him in junior this year, with the Knights being a good team hosting the Memorial Cup and him having a good chance at a WJHC spot. That's a lot of weight off his shoulders if anything to come to camp and just test himself against pros so I don't think he feels anyone's rushing him to the NHL ahead of when he should be ready.

Completely agree with elvis here, can't think of much weight on his shoulders. It's not like anyone (other than fans) is saying you have to make the nhl this year. Any weight on his shoulders I think his of his own creation. Wanting to show everyone the Canucks made the right decision.

Pretty much a ghost so far, I like the kid but would have way rather have Nichushkin.

He's been great defensively and has had a couple spurts offensively, but he has struggled offensively for the most part, These two pre-season games have definitely determined Nichushkin >>>> Horvat

Nichuskin can only be relyed on scoring goals while Horvat can play the other parts of the game. Complete players>one dimensional.

When fans say they aren't noticing Horvat then they should look at what he is doing on the 'd' side of the puck. This kid is a team leader back in junior and plays a complete game. I suspect he is erroring on the side of caution not wanting to get caught out of position. A natural reaction for a 18 year old playing NHL games. I prefer he goes back to junior. A Memorial CUP and a WJ gold medal and this kid returns next year ready to go. He has the build already.

We keep trading good NHL players for unready prospects when this roster can't afford it. Rather have Nichushkin who is NHL ready, and scores goals. We have 3 lines of guys that can play defense, while we have zero game breakers.

Like I said from the start, I like the kid but if we're not rebuilding the wrong player was picked.

Here's Horvat's write up from the Hockey Prospectus review of our prospect pool:

2. Bo Horvat, Center

2011-12 Ranking: N/A

Date of birth: 04/05/1995

Age: 18

Height: 6'0''

Weight: 206

Shoots: Left

Statistics: 67 GP, 33 G, 61 P (London, OHL)

Acquired: First round, ninth overall in 2013 by Vancouver

Year in Review: Horvat trended up all season. He looked very good in the second half of the OHL season, and he was the OHL Playoffs MVP.

The Good: Horvat is one of the more well-rounded prospects outside the NHL. He is a strong, tough, skilled center with defensive ability. Horvat displays impressive hand-eye coordination, and he got more comfortable with his puck creativity as the season went on, helping him to emerge as a playmaker. Horvat skates well, works hard, and drives the net, all of which make him difficult for defensemen to deal with. He plays against good players, takes important faceoffs, and generally can be used in any situation.

The Bad: There is not really much to put here. Horvat is not a dynamic player, and he could ideally put up more points, but aside from gaining more experience and strength, it is hard to nitpick him.

Projection: He could be a below-average top line center with good defensive value.

Couldn't have said it better, he is always doing something, whether it is offensively or defensively.

As much as Bo looked pretty good tonight and good for the most part this preseason, hes got a good shot at being on being on the team at least for 9 games with all the suspensions, injuries, but returning him to junior would benefit him the most, hes going to be leader for a London Knights team that churns out superstars like candy and has a memorial cup berth, a lock for world junior championships, if he develops well and performs, I think hes not only going to be shoe in for next years team, but will be a really solid contributor. If anybody needs to go back, its Bo because hes got such a tremendous oppurtunity to grow and become a solid player he was meant to be

He has looked good, he has the hockey smarts, and strength to play at this level.

I think for Bo the issue was feeling more comfortable, and tonight he was comfortable & had a real solid game.

I would prefer to see him back in London, as I don't think he is ready to be a full time player and bring what we would like as a full time player, but getting 9 games till some guys come back is certainly something we should look at, especially if he can continue to build off tonight's game in the remaining exhibition games.

He'll be going back down as soon as we are healthy.

I like that he's improved every game, but you can tell that he's still a kid and needs to develop more.

A lot of fans equate physical capability as the sole basis for playing in the NHL. I think we can all remember high pics who did not make it because they were rushed into the league. IMO the mental adaptation can be more difficult than the physical side. Classic example is Brule last night still trying to make it. The Yotes really screwed up his development. In his case I think it was a combination of physical development and his mental approach.

Did you mean the Blue Jackets?
