Check Horvats highlights from playoffs and Mem Cup this year. Any doubters will change their minds. For me he is really similar to Dustin Brown, competes extremely hard, good shot, good speed, good vision, plays PP and PK well. Gotta like him as a safe pick to be in the NHL as a second or first liner.

Yeah that highlight reel of him in the playoffs totally sold me. I was open minded to the trade for Bo originally as long as Lu came back but now im totally sold. Plus he acts like hes 25 already. Very mature and who doesnt want a face-off specialist?

I know right? Initially I was concerned because Bo's numbers in Junior regular season are not outstanding, but it's his ability to raise his game and match up against opponents that might be considered better than him and help the team come out on top. He's such a complete player I think he's going to be our MVP for many years. I really hope him and Shinkaruk play on the same line this summer and at WJC because they would be a good fit in my mind. he just wants to win at all costs, and that is infectious in the dressing room. I have had enough of NHL guys checking in and out depending on the night. He seems like he will only get better everyday.

That would be so sick if they played on the same line. Could see Bo getting top shutdown duty though.

I think his numbers are a little low because he started the year in a defensive role. I Imagine those numbers inflating with a full year on the top line.

Pretty much this. I'm really happy with the pick, but I think the trade could've brought more in return. More than that, I have no clue what Gillis is planning right now. Are we going with a youth movement now? I'd be okay with that if Gillis would just say that's what he's doing...

It is premature at this time for Gillis to say how things will go. We have to wait to see what happens in free agency first.

The more I read about Horvat the more I like him, but did anyone else want Domi? I was at a camp all week and I heard that Schneids was traded for this pick but not who we drafted, I had asumed the whole time it was Domi, seems like he would've been a good fit in our prospect pool.

I had no idea who he was when I heard the draft announcement, but the more I find about about him the more excited I get about having him in the organization. He sounds like the complete package, with the ability to raise his game come playoff time. It's gonna be fun to see how he progresses with us.

hmmmmm sounds familiar....

Two different players.

Cody was a offensively dynamic player.

Bo is a complete package - size, skating, faceoffs, hitting, defense and offense.

Cody is a lot better offensively, but Bo is better at pretty much everything else. I'm not saying this because I'm butthurt about Cody like a lot of people here. I still think Cody is going to be a good player, but Bo can impact the game in more areas.

You win with guys like Bo - he's already got 2 OHL championships and playoff MVP honours before his draft. Cody hadn't won anything before his draft. The year after, he collected individual awards like CHL MVP, but he didn't win in his only OHL final appearance.

To be fair, London is stacked, but Bo was MVP.

So who will be our future captain now? Horvat or Gaunce? :emot-parrot:

On a more serious note though, it is nice to know we have great leadership in our system.

Whoever makes the team first probably :P

Cody may have more offensive prowess, but i'm not sure that will show up as much on the stat sheet. Bo is a safe bet in any situation, which is very good for us. I think he's ready with a bit of conditioning this off season, but i also think having one more year in London would be beneficial for him. I'd be surprised if he doesn't make the team in 2014-2015

It's like which would you rather have - Claude Giroux or Patrice Bergeron. I'd take Bergeron any day - head to head he will shut down Giroux completely while still putting up points.

Bo could be like Bergeron and make our team right away this year. Training camp is going to be exciting.

I kinda think that it's his spot to lose. I just have a feeling that because of the splash they made to get him, they'll be eager to let him play. The difference between Horvat, Gaunce and Schroeder is that Horvat could slot in on the 3rd or 4th centre spot and it wouldn't hurt his development. He's suited to play any line.

Good example with Bergeron, btw.

I don't know if this would appeal to anyone but the Knights are auctioning off some game used jerseys. If you'd like to get your hands on a Horvat (or Liberati) jersey now is a pretty good time to do it.

Deadline is 10pm ET today to bid.

For note, I'm not actually associated with the Knights. This isn't an advert. I'm just putting it out there for anyone interested :)

I think a full year of top line duty in junior would do him a lot of good. They're probably going to name the kid captain next year. He's going to have to beat everyone by a country mile to get the third center job. It's not out of the question but its going to have to be the clear cut best option for the Canucks to say your our guy after 9 games. Otherwise his best development will come from getting an opportunity to completely dominate the ohl as a vet.

I have watched almost 30 of the knights season games and every playoff game this year. The more and more I saw Horvat play the more I started to dislike him but It was the same feeling I got when ever I watched Gaunce play his draft year when we got him. It was the feeling of knowing that the way theyre playing it is going to make it impossible to draft them in the 20 range at the draft because they both would be long drafted by the time Van picks. Horvat was a superstar in the playoffs this year but it was just how much he stood out beyond anyother player is what caught my eye he was really a man amongst boys.

Horvat is going to be a good one and I cant wait to see what Bo will do this season being in the spotlight.
