I really want Hutton to come back and prove he's still got it. He needs to blow everyone out of the water. He needs to look at the twins for that level of dedication.

Me too. I like Hutton... always have. I want to see him succeed, and I think he has the tools to be far better than he was this past season.

Has anyone seen any "weigh loss progress photos" from Hutton and his camp?  He's had a few weeks off now I'm sure he's shed some weight.  I wanna see him primed and ready. :)

Just posted something for you forgot to tag you in it tho.. See my last post!

When training camp rolls around, the #1 'must see' for me will be Ben Hutton's performance.

There are going to be many, many interesting stories at training camp, but most will not involve the opening day 2018/ 19 roster. Hutton and Gaudette will be the biggest ?s at camp. Dahlen, Goldobin and others less so. I don't rate Pettersson as a '?'.

Like all end of season interviews, Hutton talks a good story. Let's hope that the 'walk' equals the 'talk'.

I heard Hutton say that Green insisted he plays like this way more.  If he did, with his skill, and in proper shape we would have one heck of a good player.

Kinda like what Willy said to Tryamkin eh?

Yeah no doubt. I loved that hit, being game about the fight as well! Not sure he won, but loved the spirit!

I have a feeling its more about making plays with the puck at the offensive blue line. Handling approaching forwards who are trying to gain our zone. I suppose it is just a lot of play as assertive as that one? He was too passive as a whole this year. And I have no idea if it was fitness, or he just lost his way.

But he has skills, speed, and a directive he at least says he is responding to. I'm excited to see how he does!

How he got 2.8 is a mystery JB has to watch out for that tendency to give away free money sometimes

Agreed.  All I can figure is desperation and lack of options.  Like Sbisa, Eriksson, Gagner.........

Hopefully this ends unless a bonafide Dman or Center are available.

My take on Hutton is that he struggled early in hockey due to his size but got by on his skating. Collegiate hockey outside of the Top Ten can be hit and miss. He got by with skating and some offense. Comes to an NHL team that is struggling big time on the back end. Does not get the 2 years in the AHL which he needed and even draws into a

top 4 role because of Canuck injuries. He has a great rookie season which set him up for his fall from grace. Adds over 20  pounds over 3 years as well. Not complaining about the weight gain as he needed to but that calls for adjustments in his game. I still hold out hope that Hutton can challenge for a top 4 role.

"We've challenged every player on our team, we need everyone to come back a better player. Brock Boeser had a great year. He can still improve. I'm excited to see how Ben Hutton comes back and I have full confidence he's going to have a great year."

Let's face it - this is a challenge more than anything. I bet based on last season that Green doesn't *actually* have full confidence in Hutton.  Any why should he?  Hutton hasn't shown that he is able to do what is necessary to have a full-time role in the NHL.

I'm hoping he does succeed though.  By all accounts he seems like a great guy and I feel he does have some pretty decent tools.

As the Canucks cleaned out their lockers and headed home at the end of the season, Ben Hutton faced some tough questions from the media. Called out for his conditioning, Hutton committed to working hard in the off-season.

“I’m going to grind all summer hard to make sure I come back one of the most conditioned guys on the team,” he said.

Awesome to see this kid do stuff like this. I'm really hoping Hutty can pull it all together next year; he's a likable guy who seems like he works hard.
