Alexander Burroughs to be bought out of final year.

Hats off to Burr for a great Canucks career. A true Canuck through and through. A gritty performer, a true competitor, and a player who always gave it his all. There is not a hoping hell he stays with the team for another year, as the Canucks will obviously look to get some fresh legs into their lineup. I would say he has the worst cap hit of any player in the NHL right now, as Gillis stunningly gave him another 4 years at a ludicrous 4.5 cap hit. Ouch.

All the best Burr, I look forward to seeing you as a TV hockey analyst.

As I recall, Benning said they were having Pro and Amateur meetings this week.  I presume this means that they'll be figuring out what they want the team to look like next season so that they can go ahead and start signing (or not signing) some of the UFA's and RFA's and deciding what to do with Burrows or Burroughs (whatever his name is) and Higgins.

Unless you have a source, your thread title is very misleading. You might consider changing it so it reflects that this is your opinion/speculation, rather than the current title that makes it seem like a report. Just my 2 cents.

I also, doubt we buy him out. I believe that despite his cap hit, it would be better to pay out his remaining year of salary rather than pay out a portion over the next 2 years. He would also be a great mentor on the 3rd or 4th line for the younger players, who have been quite outspoken about their desire for him to remain with the team and what he means to them as a mentor.
