mmead
Canucks have a decent bottom pairing dman that on an ok contract that doesn't fit and needs a top 6 winger who can put in points Oilers have a winger who has never lived up to his potential but has the raw ability to put up ok points and need d. I know it's in division but wouldn't this be a beneficial fair trade for both sides?
AriGold
Yakupovs value is way higher then Sbisa... They would do the deal for Tanev though I would guess.
DeNiro
If Benning takes Chiarelli out for drinks and then puts a gun to his head maybe. Otherwise dream on. Yakupov's value hasn't sunk that low. He'll likely fetch a top young D prospect.
thejazz97
I could see us adding a late-round pick or two.
SaintPatrick33
We would need to add on to that big time. Oilers still believe his 1st overall potential will yield them a decent prospect in return, Sbisa is not that guy. I would look for the oilers to trade a more established guy like RNH so they can get a guy who can play on the team right away. Plus, I remember watching Yak play with McDavid, and the speed on that line was insane so maybe they think of keeping him.

Tajun
They'd want Tanev, or maybe Hutton+, and JB says no. I can't really see us getting Yak, which is a bit of a shame since I could see a turnaround for him in a less ludicrous environment. Not to come around to be worth that 1st OA, but I could see a decent second line scorer happening still.

Therefore, Benning can rip off any team. Right.

The is not a chance JB trades Sbisa for Yakupov. The Russian coach at the world's was asked why Yaks was not on his team, and his answer was "not wanted - addition by subtraction". Why the heck would we want him? Not a chance. No way. Yaks has very little value, or he would have been traded already. He might be a guy NO TEAM WILL TAKE. Don't listen to these guys.. If you're looking for an authoritative value-point on where Yakupov falls, look to no smarter than Darren Dreger. http://edmontonjournal.com/sports/hockey/nhl/cult-of-hockey/what-darren-dreger-actually-said-about-the-leafs-not-wanting-nail-yakupov-in-a-trade-for-james-reimer Naylor: “Dregs, if things got really desperate in Edmonton and we know the expectations are there, ‘Hey, we’re not the young Oilers. This is not development, this is not moral victories and we want to win,’ and they’re off to a rough start. They play tonight in Long Island. If things got really desperate there, and they said, ‘We got to do something. This goaltending thing is just a disaster. We’re willing to peel off a Nail Yakupov for a Reimer,’ would the Leafs do that?” Dreger: “I don’t think so.” Naylor: “Wow.” Yak wouldn't-a fetched Reimer....lol. I wouldn't give up Sbisa for Reimer. So by extension, I think your proposal aint as bad as made out to be. Yakupov is over-rated. Let's face it - 31, 24, 33, 23 points four years in... playing with that forward talent in Edmonton. Finally got over having some of the NHL's absolute worst possession numbers last season - previously, absolutely horrible with extreme sheltering. Draft pedigree isn't worth a bloody thing at this point. Edmonton has been wrecking this guy's development since the day he was drafted. Still lot's of 'potential' / talent there, but not much evidence of any progress or or becoming a legit top 6. So, they're both projects, and imo, Sbisa has certainly shown relative progress. And Sbisa is under-rated around here. But I don't see it happening haha.

If you have some evidence of Yakupov's bad attitude then let's see it. Let's see some quotes by former teammates or coaches.
-Vintage Canuck-
The Oilers need defence, yes. Do the Canucks need more right wingers? Not really. Unless it's a domino effect where they will trade one of the winger right now on the team to make room for the newly acquired right winger. As for the value, not really in favour of the Oilers. They probably would want a pick or prospect which I don't think Jim Benning would be interested in dealing away.
