nucklehead
http://summerlandreview.com/breaking_news/381804361.html Quote Motorists travelling in Western Canada were not able to buy gas at some Petro-Canada stations on Friday morning. While the Summerland station still had fuel, other stations from British Columbia to Manitoba were out of gas or running low. “We know this is a huge inconvenience for our customers and we apologize,” said Sneh Seetal, spokesperson for Suncor, Petro-Canada’s parent company. Seetal said the shortages were the result of the Fort McMurray wildfire and an unplanned outage at Suncor’s Edmonton refinery on May 27. Crude oil from the Fort McMurray area is processed at the Edmonton refinery. The outage at the refinery affected Suncor’s ability to produce gasoline. “We are doing everything we can to bring things back,” Seetal said. Suncor has a team working t bring the refinery back to capacity. In addition, the oil company is working to bring in additional gasoline as quickly as possible, in order to meet the demand for fuel. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/petro-canada-suncor-gas-stations-run-out-of-gas-1.3614059 Quote Petro-Canada gas stations in Kelowna, Kamloops, Edmonton and Calgary are running out of petrol from their parent company, Suncor. In Kelowna, an employee at the Petro-Canada at Glenmore and Kane roads said they ran out of regular grade gas at 2:45 p.m. PT on Thursday and were out of premium grade by 5 p.m. Similarly, a staffer at the Petro-Canada on Highway 33 said they hadn't run out of gas yet, but they expected to soon. "We're out of gas and unless we can get it from a third party then we'll be out three to five weeks," said Tianna Byers, an employee at the Petro-Canada on Highway 97 in Kelowna. "The fire in Fort Mac has reached a place called Wood Buffalo in Alberta, which is our supplier so we can't get any more gas." Global reports this morning that is spreading to other stations with some Shell stations closing down.
skategal
I drove home from Vernon yesterday, most of the PetroCan's I passed were closed. II didn't see any other stations closed though, so it was a bit strange, PetroCan would be closed but whatever brand on the opposite corner was open. Gas prices jumped about 9 cents a litre on Friday morning. Prices were at 1.12 at some stations, next door they had already gone up to 1.21. Warhippy
in 4 days in penticton prices jumped 103.9-114.9-124.9 Sorry, but I don't frigging buy it. A record glut in the supply chain, 1 company affected, prices don't just jump but increase 1/5th overnight. still near record low oil prices. It's a literal joke the excuses they've given without any factual evidence except the fire in ft Mac

SabreFan1
Thanks for all of your oil! -US Actually, sounds like you may need another couple of refineries out west. That or maybe Shell somehow peeved off the ones that you have and now they're paying the price.

Unfortunately they have the potential of crapping up the immediate area's environment.

Having it shipped close to the shore line opens up the option to get more of our product on the world market.

Sooner or later the West is going to get a handful of refineries to service the Chinese market. Some day China will surpass the US in oil imports from Canada. SabreFan1
1 hour ago, John Tortorella said: Oil exports from canada* No, it's oil imports. Read it again. US/China imports oil from Canada. It was worded from the China US perspective. If I was talking from from a Canadian perspective, then it would be Canada exports oil to the US/China. I could have said it more plainly, but it still makes sense. Semantics are fun, aren't they. Either way it's my fault for not stating my point more clearly and making it easier to read.
