[Proposal] Fleury to Calgary/Edmonton

Recommended Posts

Flames are now without Hiller and only have Ramo. They're looking for a legitimate starter.

Flames trade the 6th overall selection in the draft to the Penguins for Marc Andre Fleury and Daniel Sprong.

Flames gets the goalie and the right winger they need.

Now Edmonton one is a little different they're lacking goaltending and defence.

Oilers trade The 4th overall pick to the Penguins for Marc Andre Fleury and Derrick Pouliot.

Oilers get the goalie and the defence.

Why they will trade and not trade Fleury

> Penguins might want to keep Fluery because look at the playoff run tokarski had and he turned out to be awful after.

> Fleury could be a good mentor to Murray

>Penguins trade Fleury because they think Murray is ready

> Penguins could get a big piece to there franchise with the 4th/7th if they want to trade it. or even move up but not likely.

The Penguins might even draft a player or a dmen since there d core or forward prospect core is pretty weak.

But if they did they could trade it for someone good but thats a trade proposal for anouther day.

Tell me if I'm overvaluing Fluery or the picks.

Good question,

If Schneider got traded for the 9th overall when he was known to be a reliable young starter then I'm guessing Fleury would not be worth a top 10 pick that said there are 2 big problems in this proposal.

1 - Penguins would likely not want to trade away Pouliot as they are weak on the defence anyways and save a ton of cap that way.

2 - Fleury probably has a NTC and I doubt he waives to goto Edmonton // Calgary

Value wise probably pretty close but my guess is they'll try to trade Fleury to a west team with a low first and a goalie backup.

Dallas, Minnesota, or maybe Arizona ?

Arizona they got cap. Minnesota has Dubnyk and Dallas I don't think has much cap.

How do the Flames acquire #7 from Arizona in order to trade it to Pitsburgh?  Why don't they just move their pick - #6?

Fleury isn't worth much more than a 2nd. 31 year old (Soon to be 32) goalie

This and he has had trouble with injuries as well. Goalies don't have this kind of value unless they are young. Fleury also has a NMC and with the expansion draft coming they will be forced to protect him and lose Murray. Fleury isn't worth much at this time.

Wonder if he and Matt Murray'll go through the Luongo/ Schneider drama?  Matt's cheaper and has likely already supplanted M.A.F. and the Pens could use the cap space to improve their D-group.  Could see them get a 2nd and a depth roster D from the Flames.

The Leafs could use a good goalie too.  Plus, what about Bishop?  He's going to want big coin.
