Salter
Rules: Spoiler As per normal, the vote will be specific to the team drafting in that slot, you will have 10 players to choose from in the vote (starting with the top 10 players ranked in the TSN top 60 midterm rankings) . Make your choice not only by skill, but by team needs as well. Every couple of days I will create a new thread with the results of the vote, and a new vote for the next team. I will also post information about the next 5 players in the TSN top 60. We will only be doing the first round. Below the team's logo, you can click to see their current prospects over at Hockey's Future to have more organizational insight. Enjoy and make sure to come back for each vote! The Arizona Coyotes have selected Luke Kunin with the 20th overall pick. Who will the Carolina Hurricanes draft 21st overall? Current Hurricanes Prospects ***According to our Draft Rankings, Carolina has already selected Michael Mcleod (C) in this draft.*** Draft Eligible Prospects Tufte has a number of things to work on before he is NHL ready, but if he can add some weight, and overcome the issues with his defensive game and improve his playmaking ability he can become a valuable weapon in a team’s top six. His size, skating, and skill with the puck are an intriguing combination for any team. Playing at Minnesota-Duluth will certainly give him some time to add that muscle to his frame. Tufte’s style is similar to Nick Bjustad of the Florida Panthers, but this is a style comparison only and not one based on talent. (Source) Stanley is a huge two way defenceman. He loves to play physical and clear the crease, but also can chip in offensively when needed. He has become a nasty player that the other team dreads whenever he is on the ice. Very few players can match him physically due his monster 6'6 frame, and he uses this to his advantage every game. He is a very consistent player who's offensive game improved as the year went on. He looked very good in a first round series loss to the Kitchener Rangers in the 2016 OHL Playoffs. (Source) He is a very strong skater with excellent acceleration and balance. But mix in his mobility with strength and tenacity, and you get a coach’s dream. Rubtsov is a “big play” center who preys on the weak, and his superior playmaking ability and vision enables him to be used in key situations regardless of which end of the scoreboard his team is on. He’s an extremely competitive leader who will involve himself physically if the game is in need of a momentum shift. (Source) In terms of upside, Dube can be a productive presence and an agitator on a second or third line in the NHL, assuming he is given the time to develop and is able to reach his ceiling. His style is reminiscent of a mixture of Zach Parise and with a bit of Brendan Gallagher’s feistiness. This is a style comparison though and not one based on talent. (Source) Asplund is quick and shifty, using his speed and turning ability to gain time and space. He has a good touch around the net, positioning his stick in the right place and takes a beating to complete a play. His SHL numbers might not show it, but he’s a very good scorer with a quick, accurate shot. Asplund is strong on the puck and can make plays across the ice or diagonally while traveling at a high rate of speed. His work ethic off the ice is excellent, and it shows — he’s a tenacious forechecker and competes every shift from start to finish. Asplund is far from physical, but his excellent work in the faceoff circle coupled with his smarts makes him a perfect fit for the NHL’s puck-possession game. (Source) Draft Order Spoiler 1.
