stonecoldstevebernier
2-0 Comets! Carcone on the doorstep takes a pass from Pelletier behind the net to score his second of the season. That was a great pressure shift by the Carcone-Pelletier-Rendulic line, too.
stonecoldstevebernier
Kellen Jones breaks into the Comets zone and fires a wrist shot between the two defensemen and past Demko to cut the Comets lead to 2-1. About ten minutes to go in the third.

stawns
Huge win and a great game to watch. Demko is for real........that save in the last minute was a beauty. Liked what I saw from Jake agsin, with a great set up on the Comets first goal. Another strong game for both Cassels and McEneny too, at both ends of the ice and a good scrap from CC. Subban is Just not that noticeable out there. Honourable mention to Carcone

stonecoldstevebernier
Comets win! 2-1 the final, with Utica holding the 28-23 edge in shots. That's the sixth straight win for the Comets, and for Demko who was brilliant again. He didn't face a high volume of shots but he's making so many of them look easy right now. Green's new line combinations clicked very well offensively and defensively - this team is just playing a fantastic complete game right now. The Valk line was a standout, as was the penalty kill once again despite missing Hamilton from the lineup. Carcone finally broke a long slump and really picked up his game after scoring the goal, showing some chemistry with Pelletier. He was great for us in camp, and I think there's lots of room for him to improve going into next season. McEneny was also a positive with several shots on goal again - similar to Stecher, he's skilled at holding the line and did so on a few occasions where it looked like the puck would get by him. Subban also had a solid offensive game and although the PP didn't connect for the Comets, its always more dangerous when he's in the lineup. Utica is temporarily one point up on St John's for the final playoff spot, although the IceCaps are leading late in their game today so that could change. They'll still have two games in hand on them regardless, and are steadily gaining ground on the other teams ahead of them like Albany and Toronto. They'll play again tomorrow vs Lehigh Valley. Three stars: Carcone, Valk, Demko. 1st No Scoring 2nd 14:52 UTI Curtis Valk (15) ASST: Jake Virtanen (7), Cody Kunyk (20) 3rd 6:36 UTI Michael Carcone (2) ASST: Pascal Pelletier (14) 9:40 BRI Kellen Jones (4) ASST: Kyle Burroughs (18), Devon Toews (31)

Beary Sweet
6 straight wins for the Comets! Another big win over Bridgeport 2-1. Valk with a nifty finish off a nice pass from Jake, who is starting to get in a groove after a goal last game. Then Carcone gets on the board as well off a nice feed from Pelletier. Jake is starting to round out his whole game now. It's great to see him taking steps now in his development and he's only going to get better the more he hits the scoresheet. He recorded a pair of shots so it's only a matter of time before he starts turning those into more goals. Demko continues to be lights out recording his 6th consecutive win and a 23 save performance tonight. He was the 3rd star in tonight's game with Carcone and Valk earning 1st and 2nd stars respectively. Just imagine the influx of talent entering next season. We would be even better than this year. It's great to see Green continue to get the team to work hard. It has translated into this streak and we're pretty much unbeatable right now. Hope we keep it going vs Lehigh Valley tomorrow! Go Comets!

Hopefully he's getting over the adjustment period to the pro game and ready to start producing. 46 minutes ago, stawns said: Huge win and a great game to watch. Honourable mention to Carcone Five shots for Evan again. Perhaps the thinking is that if Sbisa is taken in expansion that McEneny can step in next year. Bigger but not as physical, but brings more offense and puck-moving. Plus saving 5 years and up to $3mil in cap.
hobart16
Classic Comets game. Heavy forecheck, keep opponents shots down and grind away with 4 lines that you really can't tell apart and let your goalie see the puck. After a gorgeous first 30 minutes of domination over Bridgeport the Comets held on for the one goal win. Bridgeport was very fortunate to score their goal. Not sure what Demko, who was great overall, was thinking on that shot that handcuffed him. No Pedan, no Hamilton and of course Grenier called up too. Next man up Michael Carcone and he scores. Subban played well again, nothing flashy other than one very sweet move at the blue line where he handled past two guys and got a good shot off, and Robak, Mceneny, Shields all have some size and took care of business in our end. They played conservatively but in the 3rd there was a rush where it was just Subban and Mceneny putting pressure on while the rest of the team changed and they got off for a fresh D pair. Very nice to see them confident to join the rush. The D are really working together nicely these days. Sautner was back in the lineup and did some good things out there and Billins is a veteran presence and plays a bit like Alex Biega and is about the same size. Not as good a skater as Biega but probably a little better handle. Labate was with Bancks and Cassels, who had an excellent all around game and dropped the gloves against Burroughs who is a pain the ass and deserved the few shots to the head he took before tackling Cassels. Very good checking line that is hard to play against as the cliche goes. Borna Rendulic is really improved. He is playing with a purpose out there. Always had good speed and lots of effort but sometimes he looked like a guy running around really fast but not necessarily doing much. Now he is fitting into the system. Rendulic absolutely pasted a Bridgeport player into the boards on a perfect check in the first period. Bridgeport has some guys with some ass on them and our guys stood up to that size well. Rendulic has some more upside and I hope we re sign him for Utica next year. The first goal by Valk was gorgeous. All started with a set play off a face off and a stretch pass off the boards by Kunyk to a streaking Virtanen who picked it up in stride going down left side (there is the left side again!) and was just too fast and he dropped a perfect pass to Valk for a pretty roof goal. One of the better goals I've seen this year. Kunyk and Virtanen make a nice pair and Valk can play with anybody as long as there is some beef on the line with him. Great write ups by Stonecoldstevebernier he is right on top of things with the Comets. Tough matchup tomorrow and then Bing Sens on Sunday. Keep it going boys. Getting my moneys worth lately!
