You watch alot of utica games eh? How are you watching them may I ask?

Only the weekend games and the occasional Friday. But with all the three-game weekends lately it probably seems like more than that... I'll send you a PM.

2-0 Comets at the end of one, shots are even at nine apiece. Two great powerplay efforts by the Comets have been the difference so far, and Demko has been stellar in net making a number of nice reaction saves. Archibald has been all over the ice and is being a thorn in the Senators side; he decked Patrick Sieloff with a big hit and looks like he's continuing his aggravating play from yesterday.

At one point Archie didn't even have a contract, now he's wearing an "A".

What I've noticed is that the team plays so much more confident in front of Demko. I'm starting to think he is starting to become one of the leaders in the room sort of like the impact Quick has made when he returned from injury for the Kings and sparked the team into becoming a solid team once again. He's going to be a solid netminder

3-0 Comets after two, and the shots are 23-14 after a period that was all Utica. Demko had to make two great saves though, one a nice glove snare off of Mike Blunden and the other on a cross-ice one timer where he was already in position by the time the pass came across. Archibald was noticeable again, including a shorthanded breakaway where Driedger made a good effort to just get his pad on Archie's backhander after the deke. Virtanen has been going to the right areas and had a couple of chances in tight but hasn't gotten anything to go so far.

This would be bad news for the Comets if he has to miss time... he's been their best player in this game and very consistent throughout the entire season. The lines are scrambled a bit to start the third, Zalewski-Cassels-Rendulic was just out to start. The Kunyk-Valk-Virtanen line remains intact.

EDIT: 3:30 into the third, Archibald comes down the tunnel and skates onto the ice for the faceoff with the Utica fans standing up and cheering him on. Fan favourite.

The Comets take it 5-0 and Demko gets the shutout! And they made it look easy. Binghamton isn't in the playoff picture and didn't really have any push back at all and any chances they mustered Demko was able to turn aside, and he now has seven straight wins. Fantastic games up front by Archibald, Valk, and Rendulic, the three of whom really carried the offense for the Comets today. Archibald in particular was a force for the Comets and has emerged as a leader in all aspects of the game this year. Cassels had another gritty, solid outing. Virtanen continues to rack up the chances and his line with Valk and Kunyk had some impressive shifts again. Really not much you can fault with this team right now.

The Comets are one point back of the final playoff spot with a game in hand on St. John's. Three stars: Archibald, Rendulic, Demko... the fans were chanting Archibald's name before the first star selection. Another brilliant performance by this Utica group, and they'll be back at it again vs Syracuse on Friday.

Talk about a turnaround this year. The Comets are the hottest team in conference after starting the season as one of the weakest teams in the conference. Adding some quality vets has helped but some of younger guys have improved their play. And obviously Green has to get a lot of credit (again). Every year he manages to get the most out of the talent is given.

Great to see Valk doing well. After getting an invite as an undrafted free agent to the Canuck's young stars camp, parlaying that into an invitation to the main camp and ultimately getting a contract and playing in the ECHL, he has worked very hard. He had a bad injury half-way through his first year but came back with a good second year in the ECHL and obviously has established himself as a good AHL player this year. Very impressive. Guys his size don't often make it to the NHL but it would not be crazy for the Canucks to give him a two-way NHL contract next year.

Missed both last nights and today's game, so thanks to all for the updates.  Very happy to see them back on track today with a big win.  I've really liked the progression ion rendulic's game in the last month or so, and especially since his call up........he's playing with so much more confidence.  Labate as well.

Demko is a machine, but I hope they give him the Corey Schneider treatment and let him over cook a bit in the AHL, rather than bring him up too early.

Sens didn't offer much opposition but Comets were awfully good considering 3 games in 68 hours and a bus trip from Allentown (about 4 hours) home last night.  Valk was amazing out there, looked like Cal Oreilly setting people up.  And the power play has looked better lately mainly due to his puck handling and passing.

Starting to think I might be wrong about Pedan he might just be in the dog house instead of sick.

Got a look at the new guy Emerson Clark and he is pretty short but thick and feisty.  Goes hard to the net.  He may end up helping but looked a little lost today playing with a new crew.

If the D and Demko keep playing like this we will be a tough out for anyone when Labate, Gaunce, Grenier, Goldobin get here and Wacey Hamilton gets back from injury.  If Pedan could get it together we would be formidable.

Archibald has been MVP this year.  Clutch goals, great hits, better skating.  He has been good on penalty kill even.  He deserves a chance with an NHL team the way he has changed his game.

Go Comets!  Hope we can keep it going and get a shot at playoffs.

Don't know why the Canucks wouldn't give this guy another contract. He's done everything to prove himself in the AHL, and looks alot better than some of the other longshots they've given contracts to recently.
