What are the thoughts about taking Andrew Macdonald from Philadelphia in a trade that also involves their first round pick. With that pick, draft McAvoy.

I know that's a terrible contract for a number of years, and we have our own buy-outs to worry about. But the Canucks are going nowhere fast anyway, and it's a cheaper way to get another pick in the first round...

It we get Sergachev, Bellows, or Jost with their pick then YES.  Otherwise ... NO

For Provorov?! :^)  We can dream, right?

Think I suggested something like this, back in Feb. They've got a surplus of sweet, young D.

I have also.

Both Provorov and Gostisbehere are left shot, nobody needs two left shot d that good.

We just want one of them...is that so much to ask?

Cap dump Macdonald on us and include Provorov for #5 and Sbisa.

I want to see JB try grab a second first rounder, preferably, at the 16-20 spot and grab Logan Stanley. Philly would fit the criteria. I think a deal for Edler could be made. As I'm hoping they re-sign Hammer; would it make Edler expendable? He'd be a good fit there. Wouldn't take MacDonald though.

They don't need LHD.

Sober voice of reason, despite bleating-masses in season.

Said Niedermayer and Pronger. Or Niedermayer and Stevens.

If there's one thing teams hate, it's an abundance of talented defensemen.

Niedermayer and Pronger/Stevens are completely contrasting style of players.

Gostisbehere and Provorov are very similar style of players.

In no way was I seriously saying that a team could not use two quality but similar left shot dmen, I'm just saying that Gostisbehere's play this year could make Provorov expendable for an asset they could use more (W, G)....they already have a wealth of young D prospects that all seem to be LD.

I'm not a believer in what hand they are. I'm fine with a LHD playing the right side. I'm more interested in a solid, reliable dman who can out muscle and out reach the opposition. Logan Stanley possesses all the above.

You might be fine with it, but a left shot defenseman who has played the left side his whole career might not be.

If everyone was fine with left shot dmen playing the right side, why are right shot dmen so sought after?

If it was so easy, it wouldn't be an issue...which it clearly is.

Do you think that if we pick up Logan Stanley, he makes the team next year?

Ya, those stupid Habs of the 70s.  How in the Heck did they win all those Cups with those lefty losers: Savard, Lapoint, and Robinson?  My God they had three!  Insane!  Stupid!  I remember when there were rumors back then that the Habs were going to add Orr, but then people said that they have three lefties already and NO WAY could a team win with four!  Ha Ha Ha

Not overly familiar with his game, I know he's huge, but I doubt any of the D in this draft make the NHL this coming year.

Then what are you worried about? I see him as a thee to four year project. He just turned 18. By then our entire defense core will probably look a whole lot different. Sbisa's contract will be up. My proposal deals Edler, so he's gone. We may not see Hammer back and even if we do, his next contract will probably be over. Don't even mention Bartkowski. He's done. Tryamkin could still bolt back to Russia.

The bottom line is, defenders of his stature and potential aren't available all the time. JB loves big, physical players. He's definitely all of the above and maybe he's perfectly fine with playing the right side. I would be very happy if we got him.
