Would Milan be of interest and or consideration for the Canucks? and do you think he would fit in with the group. personally i see alot of young guys but maybe having a strong player like Lucic and who has won a cup could be a great helping piece for the team, maybe lets hear what you all think.

Like what has been said over and over.  Not to much and not to long.

5 million per year for three years.

That would work in my books, if he can do 20 goals a season, im happy with that and he would provide a grit that we need with forwards.

And if anything more than that, run away.

Edit:  well, more worried about a deal being more than 3 years than more than 5 million.

I'm for it depending on what he's looking for in terms of salary and term, no 8 year contracts please and thank you. Most I'd be willing to do is six years, even then not a fan of the length. 5 years, 6 million a year cap hit I'd be all for.

Sure it's a lot of money, but Vrbata is off the books, Miller is off the books end of next season, if not before, Sedin's contracts will be expiring in a couple of years, bunch more cap freed up, and most of our important signing in the next few years will be RFA's who command less than UFA's.

Shores up our wingers as well, Horvat + maybe #5 pick this year down the middle (Dubois, Brown?) with Boeser, Virtanen, Lucic on the wings with a spot open in the top six for another wing, maybe Baertschi, Gaunce, another pick *shrug*

Players of Lucic's size and skill and physicality are hard to find.

Max I would go, would be 6.7M for 5-6 years, which is fairly reasonable for both parties.

Cap room isn't really an issue for this team, when Miller's, the Sedins', and Hansen's contracts are all off the books within two years.

You don't have to worry about an 8 year contract, as the max you can give to FAs (during free agency) is 7. You can re-sign your own free agents to 8 year deals like Anaheim did with Perry and Getzlaf.

I think GMs will be hesitant to give out long-term deals to free agents with the uncertainty surrounding expansion and the salary cap.

Word is he is seeking 6 years at 6 million. If Canucks can get him for that without an NMC, I think they should definitely do it.

People worry he'll die out and become an anchor but Lucic has NEVER been about speed. His whole game is centred around getting in front of the net, puck possession, and physicality. All of those things he's still gonna be able to do at 33 or 34.

Plus the value of having Lucic there when Boeser joins the team in a year would be HUGE.

One of new stars could walk into the NHL and onto a line protected by Lucic and Sutter.

There's too much upside to not give him a sizeable offer. A guy like Lucic could change s lot of how the Canucks are viewed.

Just now, Where's Wellwood said:

I don't care how much or for how long. I don't want him. Call me bitter. He's an asshole.

He is a tool, that being said, how many tools have won the Stanley Cup? Claude Lemiuex was a total tool and he was an integral part of multiple cup runs.

He is one of the few FA that we have a high chance of signing, at 6 mill for 5 years, I would swing it, since I highly doubt we would snag any of the other big name FA.

As long as he sticks up for the Sedins and the youngsters, and chips in 20 per season, why not? Would be nice to have a local boy power forward on the team who plays with a nasty edge.

He's one of, maybe the top billing UFA (Next to Stamkos if he makes it to free agency) Lucic will be able to command term from teams because of that, I'm sure some dumbass GM would be willing to give him 7 years, there's always that one moron GM. I doubt Lucic even looks at any contract coming his way unless it's at least 4 years, or just crazy amount of money like 8mil+
