Not sure how reliable Hockey Feed is as a source, however the article was based off of comments made by reporter Gary Lawless during a radio interview on Winnipeg's Team 1290AM. The comments from the Radio Interview can be heard here: http://radioego.com/ego/listen/22898 --- I'm sure there will be some debate on the validity of this report and whether or not Hockey Feed is an acceptable source, but regardless of that, what are your opinions of the situation in Carolina? If the team does in fact get sold and relocated, do you thing it is more likely that the team moves to Las Vegas, forgoing the expansion process? Or is it more likely the team is moved to Quebec, allowing the league to still collect the $500m in expansion fees from Las Vegas? Discuss. I thought it would be Florida two years ago but then Broward County gave them $86 mil to stay and the NHL never says no to free money. LV will be an expansion team. Guaranteed. And that would be patently wrong in this case. QC makes far more sense as a relocation because they need to do literally nothing but answer the phones and they will be sold out. An expansion team requires groundwork of the leading year to build excitement. QC needs nothing. It's already a slam dunk economically as a step up from Carolina. The Thrashers sale was officially announced on May 31st, 2011 and a couple of weeks wouldn't have made a major difference. It would probably mean some all nighters for lawyers, management and contractors but they could get it done. Like someone else mentioned, getting fans on board wouldn't be an issue at all. You could announce the move the day before the season started and I guarantee the home opener would be a sell out. Stats doesnt stop the masses of know-it-alls, with no formal business training or education to speak of, from pretending they know how to run a multi billion dollar league or how the inner workings even work, though.
