JaboVancouver
Our season preview episode is up! There seems to be a real split in this market between cautious optimism and pessimism. We discuss this year's roster along with what's going in Utica and Europe. The question is whether fans will be able to look past what could be a disappointing season and towards the bigger picture as prospects continue to develop from juniors, to NCAA, the AHL and Europe. It's been fun chatting with some of you on the messages boards, whether we agree or disagree and I will be on here all season for more. It should be an interesting ride! https://justabitoutside.podbean.com/e/episode-65-vancouver-canucks-season-preview/

VanGnome
Listening to it right now, it's remarkably better than Pratt and Jake. Far less sensationalism.
Bob Long
Ignore the haters. I've been hoping for something new, and way more positive than the "journalism" we have here. I've lived and worked across the country over the last 20 years and Vancouver media is by far the most negative. They look for the cloud in the silver lining. I guarantee if we ever win the cup in 6 games, someone from the Province will complain it should have only taken 5. Keep it coming.
selkirkcraig
I'm always looking for a new canucks podcast so i'll give it a listen. good luck guys.
Where's Wellwood
It's not bad. Your voices are easy enough to listen to. Pace and intonation is good. View point (based on episode 1) is fair and measured. There is a din in the background. I don't know if you guys can do anything about that. For a first episode, Good Job! AngelicHearts
Currently listening to the first episode and it's interesting. I like it. The volume seems to be a little quiet, though.

tas
I'll happily wade through the negativity and sensationalism of traditional media for one reason: credentials. until the guys writing the blogs and making the podcasts attain a level of access to the players, coaches and execs that I don't have myself, they can't tell me anything I don't already know. even though you're attempting to eschew the mainstream media, all of the info you have to talk about came directly from them anyway. all bloggers and other amateurs effectively do is add another layer of obfuscation to an already biased and opinionated journalistic endeavour. I'd add to this that the rise of social media is also solely to blame for the steep decline in journalistic integrity present within the mainstream media. with the creation of a platform that allows the uninformed "amateur journalist" to blast his thoughts, opinions, rumours and speculation out into the airwaves, where they're difficult to differentiate from those published by legitimate media members, traditional media has had to lower their standards in order to compete. amateurs feel no obligation to wait for corroboration of a theory, let alone confirmation of the truth, before they publish something because they have nothing to lose. these "stories" that haven't been fact checked or vetted are far sexier, more exciting, and more immediate than a story on the same topic that has actually gone through the necessary fact finding and due diligence required to responsibly publish something. as a result, people flock to the shiny things and traditional media, who still have to sell papers and garner tv ratings, suffer. so they drop their standards of accuracy in the name of speed and entertainment, and we all lose. We have a brand new sports podcast for the Vancouver sports market, Just a Bit Outside: The Premier Vancouver Sports Podcast. We are a couple of former associate producers for Hockey Night in Canada, lifelong Canucks fans and we want to hear from you. We don't consider ourselves media members and in fact our first podcast is on the negativity of the Vancouver sports market including the media. Like our Facebook page, follow us on Twitter and tell us what you think. If you agree with what we are saying let us know, if you think we have no idea what we are talking about that's great, we want to hear from you too. Listen to our podcast and lets start the discussion. http://justabitoutside.podbean.com/ https://www.facebook.com/Just-A-Bit-Outside-The-Premier-Vancouver-Sports-Podcast-245173955839161/ Twitter: @jabo_vancouver email: jabovancouver@gmail.com That was my first podcast. It took my a bit to figure out how to get it to play, but once I did you guys were okay. So, I'm guessing these things are not interactive: you guys tape each show, right? My only recommendation is to add a ex TV star from a top notch 80's sitcom. It would help your ratings.
