Let's get our trade on!!!

Recommended Posts

Hey babes, let's face it none of us will be happy with that one first round pick right. And it's true to say that none of us will be happy if we don't make the Stanley cup playoffs next year. So I have a  proposal but if anyone has said this already then just shut this page down. So hang tight as I

mystify your pants off.

TRADE #1

To Detroit

Jannik Hansen

To Vancouver

pavel dastyuks contract

16thOA pick

What this does for us is trade a player who has peaked this season playing with the Sedins and pick up a contract that in total gets us another first rounder.

TRADE #2

To Boston

Luca Sbisa

grenier

to Vancouver

29-30th OA pick

Boston loves their tough players, and sbisa is a young tough guy along with grenier that are expendable to us. Boston needs a defenceman and we need room for pedan or larsson.

Money send away 6.1 Million

money taken 7.5 Million

amount -1.4 Million

so after all that we take 1.4 million off our salary cap

UFA signings

sign eriksson to a contract and watch him and the Sedins make magic for us

WHO DO WE DRAFT?

5OA= Dubois or tkachuk

16OA= Dante Fabbro or jake bean

29-30OA= kale clague or Markus Niemelainen

what will our lineup look like?

sedins eriksson

baertschi horvat virtanen

burrows sutter Rodin

etem granlund gaunce

edler tanev

gudbranson hutton

tryamkin pedan/larsson

Markstrom

Miller

WHAT ELSE COULD WE HAVE DONE?

we could have taken picks for burrows and Higgins even though they wouldn't be very valuable. We could also have traded Miller and gotten a first or second there too.

WHY WOULD WE SUCCEED NEXT YEAR?!!?

We have a top line that can carry, remember the world championships where eriksson played with the Sedins and henrik had 10 points in 4 games. We would also have a healthy sutter and newly acquired skill winger Rodin. Plus horvat baertschi virtanen playing with eachother again will build chemistry they had from last year. Our defence is much more improved and with Markstrom and Miller sharing we will have better goaltending. Remember down the stretch when they played like superstars?!

anyways good bye babes, share only ur nice opinions as if u don't I'll share mine too ;)

Trade 1- Doubt that Hansen (even with eating Datsyuk's contract) lands a mid 1st rd pick. Add to that that Hansen has a sweet contract and is the perfect transitional player to compliment out younger players.

Trade 2- Boston laughs and hangs up on Benning.

The Hansen trade actually has serious merit even if CDC says otherwise

With rumours Detroit is ready to swing for the fences for Stamkos being able to free up that cap would be a godsend to them and a guy like Hansen is always an added bonus.

Regardless of what CDC might think, Cap space is a very valuable commodity, as valuable as warm bodies in the line up when trying to land big name free agents or retain quality young talent

U say that but if we made that trade u would probably be whining with the rest of cdc

If he made this trade, I'll declare you king and never post here again.

If he doesn't, you have to never make another trade thread again.

If Benning actually traded Sbisa and Grenier for only a mid round pick, people would be calling for his head. Not saying they're worth a late first (Sbisa is pricey and Grenier's unproven at the NHL level) but they're worth more than a 5th.

Datsyuks contract you would have to give up a 1st or something to trade it no one wants to take it on.

I don't know what the exact negative value of the Datsyuk contract is, but I can't imagine any team willing to take it on for anything less than Detroit's 2nd round pick or a good young player.  A 7.5 million cap hit is huge in the cap limit scheme of things, and not many teams can easily fit that into their cap.

Not sure we'd get maximum value for Hansen if he was included in this deal. He's simply too valuable to our team to trade him for anything less than a homerun return.  Hansen alone is worth Detoit's mid 2nd plus a good young roster player.

Add Datsyuk's 7.5m cap hit and they'd have to bump the 2nd to a 1st or add another young player to the deal.

Detroit's 16OA + a good young RFA ...  or 46OA + 2 prospects/young RFA's.

Sheahan, Mantha, Athanasiou, Svechnikov - I'd want at least one of these guys coming back.

No, no they're not.

While people like what Grenier could bring; the fact remains, he'll be a 25 year old "no longer prospect" who has 6 NHL games on his belt with nothing overly positive to show for it. Not saying I don't like him, I do. But him alone won't get you much. Sad for anyone on here who overvalues AHL players (97% of people on CDC), but it's true.

As for Sbisa, he's not worth anything; except maybe a bad contract in return. He's a $3.6M third pairing defenseman, who doesn't bring a lot offensively or defensively.

I'd be shocked if the two paired up together gave a team a 5th round pick.

OP,

As for your proposal? Well, I've already expressed my thoughts on the Sbisa/Grenier one. It's hilarious that anyone would give a late first for Sbisa and Grenier. And the Bruins have zero need for a 3rd pairing defenseman.

Pavel Datsyuk could be moved to Arizona or Carolina without giving up their 1st round pick. It's only one year left on his contract. Far from an albatross.
