I've seen this video many times, and each time it leaves me salivating like it did the first time.

I see Laine's shot in Boeser.

The goal at 1min is just sick, along with all of the rest really. That shot and that skill translates to any league in my belief.

We don't have a player like this in our system, and Dubois/Tkachuk are more similar to what we already have.

After thinking about it more, it takes Puljujarvi to pry this kid and everything he offers as a whole, from us.

This video made me Pregnant.

Boeser, in his first year at college had 60 points in 42 games, was a +45 and they won the NCAA championship. His first year.

WHAT IF he improves on that this year? I really hope we don't give up on him that easy. He is the definition of a Benning Gem. (late first round pick with top line potential)

As someone who has seen Boeser's games with North Dakota this year, he is NOT worth this year's top 5 pick. Is he worth the 23rd overall pick we used to select him? Absolutely not.

What some of you don't understand is that there must be context in every single draft. For example, in this draft he's worth around the same as Jost, maybe a little less. You would not select Jost at #5, but you would select him around the #7-10 area.

In last year's draft he's worth anywhere around #12-15. He should've been selected around where Boston was picking , but of course they screwed all 3 of those picks up.

If people can remember, JB stated that he thought Boeser was going to be gone around the 13th pick, and he was absolutely right. I think if anything, this reinforces JB's player evaluation.

This kid is gonna be a stud. Laine is really the only guy I'd consider trading him for.

Well guess what WPG arent that stupid to do that

They be asking for a MASSIVE CRAZY delusional overpayment like

5th OA Boeser and Horvat. Something insane outta your mind. So plzzzz dont ever suggest moving into the top two.

Right @Monty you guys be asking for something insane to not pick Laine?

I know. But that's what I'd move Boeser for.

The Jets would, mainly because Laine is literally the last piece they are needing (aside from subbing out Pavelec).

I doubt very highly WPG trades their next Finnish Flash, and I'm all good with that. No way the Canucks can afford what the asking price would be anyway. I hope Laine haunts CHI for the next 15 years in that division.

I see alright. But gonna be honest hes not worth a 2nd OA pick. More realistically prob a 10-20 range pick.

Sry if i sound pessimistic guys..

Your opinion is valid, but I believe he was worth 10-20 last year to Benning, in the year since he has proven abilities against men that only the top three of this year have.

Boeser's 60 points in 42 games NCAA is 1.42 points per game

In a 68 game OHL season, that is 96.56 points...but Boeser played against MEN.

Not CHL kids.

These always come back to do you want to put them as they were when they were drafted against the current draft class, or do you want to give them the advantage of their improved play after being drafted and then stack them up? That's not a useful exercise in my opinion, since we could use hindsight on everyone - everyone that is except the players that are being drafted this year. They don't benefit from the same advantage.

But if he were drafted this year instead, without knowing how he performed after, he'd still be in the late first. He might even be a little later than we drafted him, but I don't know about the 2nd round.

Obviously.

The whole point of this topic is to show how much perception and growth can happen to a player in just one extra season. Nobody said it was fair to the players in this years draft, it clearly isn't about that. It's about the rise of an asset and how much comfort we have in Boeser because of his astronomically successful season, and how he seems like a true, humble gentlemen.

Couldn't be happier with Boeser in any way.

This also backs my view on the AHL moving back a year in age, (I previously worded this incorrectly) as the CHL isn't the best for exceptional players development or the organizations development. It's all revolved around the CHL not losing talent to the AHL, $$$. Maybe NHL clubs should have to pay a fee to the CHL for a player right out of the draft going to their AHL affiliate.

You can't tell me Virtanen and McCann wouldn't have been in Utica last year if allowed. Staying in the CHL and pounding on kids, being coached by someone who couldn't give a crap about the Canucks can lead to bad habits.

Holy christ!

There always has to be a whipping boy (Vey) and there always has to be a "Cody" (Boeser)

You know what he's worth? To the rest of the league? wait for it................A LATE 1st

Exactly what we used to get him, this kid is not blue chipper everyone seems to have decided he is, and his odds of success are no greater the Jordan Scheader's were,

Boeser is not on any GM's radar, and no one is giving us a top 10 pick for him.

Trade him for a top 5 pick!?!?! AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Boeser, while he had a terrific season, still wouldn't go ahead of

McDavid

Eichel

Strome

Marner

Hanifin

Connor

Zacha

Provorov

Werenski

Rantanen

Barzal

The rest are debatable, but Boeser is right there.

You can say what you like.  It's your opinion, but mine differs.

I don't even know how to respond to this.

How in the world in Boeser better than Connor (direct comparable) or Marner (4 time MVP, never done as an 18 year old). Werenski, Provorov are all better and thats not even debatable.

Try to stay a bit objective. I know this is a Canucks forum but there is no point in exaggerating reality just to make ourselves feel better.
