11th this month so far and 13th in points in the past 30 days... seems the playoffs are not out of sight yet

but  the blues had also a strong 1st half in november and dropped the 2nd half ...so lets wait and see

steve mason is on fire and he is one of the reasons for the strong december

gaborik with 4 scorerpoints in 6 games since he returned from a injury ..great that we have some guys who step in for mighty struggling guys like

jussi jokinen and mathieu perreault.

and what would we do with out cam , nik and mikey ? ....must be one of the better 1st lines in this league at the moment

I cut the fluff from the waivers announcements above and am reposting them now with a 24 hour window beginnning here.

The GM's didn't do anything wrong on purpose. Each waiver line was clearly marked, it is just that in the past folks have diluted their waiver notices with a whole lot of text to 'hide' the waivers notice. The preferred method is one post clearly written with one or two sentences that begins with the highlighted word "WAIVERS" or a reasonable facimile. Thank you for understanding....in one of these cases i didn't even see the waivers part as i skimmed the page last night. SOrry for appearing to be so strict, it is in the interest of all 30 of us long term.

edit: and I should add that i am simply maintaining the standard that I have tried to keep from the start, I personally love the GM's involved...great players and good guys.

Trying something new for fun today:

GML NEWS presents CDCGML Weekly Power Ranking!!

Welcome to the first of what I hope will be a weekly or bi-weekly objective article that ignores the overall standings and focuses just on the week that was. The Power Rankings will by nature be subject to some personal viewpoints that may not mesh with reality, or others views on reality, but its all for fun and loosely based upon points scored this week weighed against the previous weeks standings. To start it off, I am going to use, once only, the top to bottom standings as "previous" standings...from this week on it will be relative to the previous weeks. Lets see how it goes.

How I see the Power Rankings and what is behind them this week:

1.The Isles(2) take the top spot on the efforts of Hamilton and Ristolainen whose combined works beat the curve by quite a margin.

2.Panthers(1) Erik Karlsson is to thank for maintaining some momentum this week and keeping the panthers in the top two.

3.Wild((3)Consistent. Minny is just that. 19 contributors this week, and each doing what they know they should.

4.Capitals(5)How do you improve when your already top 5? a full 20 guys got points this week for Washington, capital idea!

5.Blue Jackets(7)Columbus' Colonel Ty Webb leads his Blue Jacket army featuring Shultz and Rust but firing all guns with 19 contributors.

6.Leafs(4)Tough Break to slide out of the top five, but at this level its nothing but pure competition, Two russians Radulov/Markov kept it close.

7.Lightning(10)The Key Story in Tampa Bay is in the blue paint. Johnson and Price are making history together with 74 points this week total.

8.Kings(15)SImmonds, Giordano, Goudreau, Bobrovsky..have all contributed to the dramatic rise of the kings in the power rankings.

9.Canadiens(6)Roussel, Gagner, Redmond not enough stop Les Habs from slipping several spots, playoff fight is early and now.

10.Flames(9)Patches makes being top ten look easy as he notches 45 points this week to balance the Flames and keep them steady.

11.Sabres(17)The trio of Giroux, Letang and Plekanec gave rise to the Sabres this week as well as a deep well of talent pitching in.

12.Jets(13)with only Hamonic standing out, it is a testament to how well this team was built that with minimal tweaking it is holding a top 12.

13.Senators(8)The Sens dropped out of the top ten, with 0 goalie points and a lacklustre performance on Offense.  Just a 3 game slide?

14.Coyotes(14)Arizona's slight downturn in productivity is shielded by eratic movement of teams around them, steady as she goes.

15.Stars(23)Dallas Rising! Ten double digit producers led by Goalie Scott Darling's 25 point week has Dallas thinking post season thoughts.

16.Penguins(11)The only thing stopping the penguins from an utter free-fall this week is the weight of previous weeks. Streit leads with 22pts

17.Red WIngs(20)Voracek single handedly muscled the Wings up three spots this past week, almost tripling the next closest players points.

18.Devils(16)17 point getters led by G Holtby's 20 points have the Devils right where they ought to be, steady and reliable but down 2 spots.

19.Oilers(19)Preds overperformed, Devils underperformed, bookending the Oilers who held tight to their top 20 spot without a pure standout.

20.Predators(22)Barkov, Jagr and Phaneuf are moving the ball down the field as Nashville continues to improve while sticking to their system.

21.Blues(24)The Blues are poised to breakout, as they finally found some stride with Steve Masons 40 points and Atkinson leading on O.

22.Bruins(12)Boston hit injury row and with no goalie points, the once mighty squad dropped rather precipitously from a top 12 placement.

23.Ducks(21)Gonna take more than Doughty and 12 others chipping in to right the Ducks ship, listing to port and taking on water this week.

24.Canucks(18)Van gets a six place downgrade, struggling with leadership in the points department, everyone chips in but no #1 guy.

25.Rangers(30)Healthier and with goalie points, rangers move up five spots from dead last to 25th. Lets face it UP was the only way left to go.

26.Aves(26)Malkin, Dubnyk and Monahan all reached 30, but only ten other point hunters on the squad keeps the Aves flat.

27.Hurricanes(25)Carolina is getting contributions from 16 players, but even Patrick Laine is not enough to create momentum just yet.

28.Flyers(29)The Flyers got better this week, just not much better relative to those around them. Gotstabehere showed up with 28 points.

29.Blackhawks(27)When just four players this week get double digit points you are going to suffer some embarrassing print media.sorry.

30.Sharks(28)Three players got more than 9 points this week, but 15 total point earners shows hope and promise that it isn't a bye for opponents going forward.

Keep in mind this reflects very short term trendlines, a weeks worth of time, maybe 3 or 4 games max..sometimes just 2. But it is an interesting glance at the direction GM's are going in at this snapshot in time. I will come back and add a bit more tonight.

ThatMike, I wanted to assure you it was formulaic, I am not picking on my second favorite team in the GML.

I can divulge that the top five teams scored (lower is better) 1.5, 2, 3.5, 5.5 and 6 respectivly

The middle six scored 15.5, 16, 17, 18, 18 and 18.5

The final five scored 23, 26, 26.5, 28.5 and 28.5

Don't anyone despair at the numbers, its just for fun.

It seems that Brandon Davidson and Eric Gryba will return this week . In this case we would have 9 NHL Defenders on the Roster.

The Blues would move one of their Defenders , but rather a Veteran. Means Greene, Gryba or Gorges could  be available.

Teams who are looking for possibly Playoff Depth should be more interested in Greene or Gryba though.

We are not likely to move one of our younger Defenders untill the Deadline , only for the right price.

SKJEI IS UNTOUCHABLE. ;)

Regards Bomba , STL GM

example of waivers notice...nothing else is permitted in the post and no edits are allowed after the fact...its too easy to change the name et cetera...it has to be a clear, simple post with no obfuscation folks. here is the example below this.
