It would be very smart asset management for the Canucks to be able to turn what? Atleast one of Burrows/Hansen into some futures. "says CDCGML Devils GM lol ".

I have a feeling something will be done. Just don't expect any 1st or even 2nd Rd picks for the players the Canucks may move.

Yeah I'm not expecting some major move but I imagine something will happen.

But it was Sunday night and CDC is all:

:frantic:  Benning needs to sell anyone for anything NOW! :frantic:

And even that is hopeful more than anything.

Benning has clearly learned from last year's trade deadline - asking all players (bar the Sedins) with clauses to provide lists. It's not ideal to have to do that, but at least he's been up front this year. However that being said, he's in danger of missing the boat again; the best trading partner for Miller (LA) has acquired its goalie, and the best trading partner for Hansen (Minny) has their forward addition. With the Pens having spent their 2nd rounder on Hainsey, they may be out of the running too. It may be we have to deal with the Rangers or Habs to get any sort of return.

MIN would have made sense for Hansen for sure. But pretty much any contender could use him. There's still lots of opportunity to move him and if not...that's ok too IMO.

I thought if MIller was going to move (which weren't great odds to begin with), ANA actually made the most sense. And with the LAK upping the nuclear arms race there, perhaps they actually feel more inclined now...who knows?

Burr was perhaps the most likely to move and lots of teams could still use him for a relatively low cost of acquisition.

But really, people should have known that the odds of even one, let alone 2 or 3 pieces moving at the TDL were low. Yet they're acting like Benning should be fired on the spot if he doesn't sell Hansen for even a 5th just to get rid of him RIGHT NOW. The panic and impatience is what's so :picard::lol:

Contrary to popular CDC opinion, we have until mid June to prep for the ED and there's more than one way to skin that cat.

Eberle, Calvert, Haula, McQuaid all playoff bound and available. We'd even consider adding on youth like Pulkkinen or Pokka if we feel value is there. We're able and willing retain salary. Varlamov available for a team in need of a goalie and willing to take a flyer for CHEAP.

Rumour: More rumours out of Los Angeles suggest big moves could be in the offing - with names Like Suter, Johansen and even potentially Backstrom making the rounds. GM Brunners is said to be quietly listening to offers - although it's understood Backstrom would be a pricey acquisition for any team.

Report: Chris Thorburn is on the block for anything I see as valuable.

This may not be the most exciting player available but I can assure you that Thorburn provides very solid depth at a very cheap price and is a versatile piece that can fit into the bottom of your lineup.

* He has over 65 PIMS in 11 straight NHL seasons

* He has played a minimum of 55 games in 10 straight seasons (not including lockout where he played 42/48)

* He has scored a minimum of 11 points in 8 of his past 10 seasons.

Currently @900k per season this guy brings value and likely will continue to bring value next season as well.
