Maybe Ryan Ellis? could be totally wrong tho

I was thinking him too but he was a 7th dmen that year and only pp specialist. I don't put too much emphasis in world junior tournies but that performance was beyond impressive for a guy wearing a bird cage

That would be nice, but next to impossible to sign.  We just don't have the wingers a guy at his level needs to play with.

How about leading the league in pp goals getting feed from 2 of the top 5 passers in the game

Well that settles that. From listening to Benning it sounds like it was a foregone conclusion he's going back to London.

He's won everything at that level. I'd almost prefer it if he went back to Finland for a season and played in the mens league.

The Hunters can still teach him alot though. Going back to London to defend their Memorial Cup title wouldn't be the worst thing.

Only thing that pisses me off is Edmonton getting Puljujarvi.

It's different now, Edmonton has McDavid and they have new management.

I could see them trading Eberle or Hall for a d-man.

Draisaitl-McDavid-Puljujarvi

             -RNH-Eberle

            -Caggiula-Yakupov

Nurse-Subban?

Klefbom

Reinhart

Their future looks pretty good....

I'm happy with the Juolevi pick though.

Does he have #1 potential, or is he going to be more of a #2 guy in his prime?

While I realise McDavid's going to be a better player than their previous #1 draft picks, they still have a mountain to climb. They still have a losing atmosphere. They are still lacking on defence. We said that Edmonton's future looks pretty good 5 years ago.

Don't get me wrong, I think they're better off now than they were 5 years ago; however, take a look at Florida. They brought in Tallon after Tallon put together that Chicago team. Florida hasn't exactly done a whole lot when you compare it to Chicago. Florida's also had a lot of high end draft picks.

As far as Subban goes, I think that's more hype from the media than anything; I doubt he's getting traded. Who knows. Without Subban, that defence you provided looks rather stingy....

Even so, if you're going to spend another year in junior it might as well be with London.

And he'll be allowed to play as the PP QB with Marner hopefully gone. Big reason he was taken off the PP1 was probably because Marner is a puck hog and Juolevi doesn't have a big shot.

Cool, offensive D a notch or 2 above Edler. Less physicality but more cucumber to him.

On the squad for 16-17.... 20% chance but he doesn't seem far off, he's got the reach and the mind.

Hopefully he realizes how lucky he is to come to British Columbia.

Why is everyone talking as though we got some kind of offensive D-man?

We Didn't this guy gets what? 45-50 pts in Jr?

IN JR?!??!?

Think people!! Guys who get 100 + points in Jr are lucky to be 20 goal guys in the bigs

We're lucky if this guy tops 25 pts in his career (If he has one)

Once again the offensive purge of this team carries on, we did NOT get a key piece here people THAT is why the CB slingshotted themselves ahead of us, because #3 was the LAST impact pick,

The Bluejackets beat us up and took our lunch money, and we didn't do a goddamn thing about it.

You can have all the skilled forwards you want, if they are having to constantly retreat into their own zone and start from

behind their net, it nullifies the skill they had in the first place.

When you have a Defenceman back there who is able to put the puck on your stick in full flight, you can transform a player from a 50 point man to a 70 point man. This is what Ehrhoff did for the twins.

I dunno, maybe it's becuase he's an offensive d-man? You're comparing junior forwards and point production to defense. Last I checked d-men aren't fowards.

Rather than get upset over things we can't control (like Columbus getting Dubois) how about taking a deep breath, going outside, and zen for a bit. The sky's not falling I assure you. It's safe outside....

I don't mind taking Juolevi, I mind taking Juolevi at 5. Should have traded down as he would have been available still.

You know this how? "I think Calgary takes him at 6. "im prolly wrong, but u never know. If cbj did a deal with us, chances are habs move to 4 select pld and cbj just screwed up big time.

I respect benning for adjusting on the fly and grabbing what this team needs. MT can be had in other forms like ufa. pmd are a lot harder to get. PC had JP fall to him, but they still gonna suck. Offense is great but that wasn't there main need. How well has this bpa worked for them? and good luck getting those guys all under the cap.same with Calgary. What really sealed it for me is the fact he has alegit shot at being a pro next year. Keep  this in mind. He can play in utica next season. Now nobody knows how he will pan out, but if he reaches say Oel status, remember that even for a local boy AZ refused to include him in any deal for matthews. yet were willing to offer the best forword future stars.

And all this hate on Benning. Considering the mess he inherited, what has he given up? shink and mcann? for a top 4 d and a young granny who has a good chance of having a longer career then shink, who is lazy when it comes to d.

I swear i truly hate most Canuck fans. Only seeing the small picture. And u wonder y the rest of thefans constantly mock us

Wasn't Calgary trying to move up? As was Mtl. Clearly Columbus had high demands and Dubois isn't the sure fire talent you paya premium for, to move up 2 spots.
