You can't really say that because he hasn't ever been truly healthy in NA playing pro and is still pretty young.

He's been derailed a year but that's just the card we got dealt.

You could say that we should of drafted Tkachuk and say we'd be a better team in the short term and you'd be right. But there would be a good chance we miss out on Petey/Hughes the following years as a result of having the 2016 draft pick make an instant impact. It's speculation but not in a senseless point of view.

I guess that's how luck/karma works. Like you said you win some you lose some.

I am not discounting Juolevi yet. He's been a real unfortunate prospect for us with his injuries. I hope he is able to pull through and become a top 4 guy down the line because Edler is not getting any younger.

I hope he can overcome and become an nhler but some of his injuries have been very bad

just hope he is not another Salo

Yeah for sure. I feel for the guy. Going through so many misfortunes so early in his pro career.

I hope he becomes a good enough player to offset this from being a major loss missing out on some guys to at least a minor loss by being an important guy for that.

All we can do is hope at this point.

It was always about hope though, from the moment OJ was drafted. Nothing is ever for sure, not even first overall.

Still no news?

And we aren't going to get any.  If it was just an ordinary injury (like when it was his back and his knee) we would have heard about it.  This is not an injuring to his body though.  This sounds more and more like a young kid who might want to go back home to Finland.  I have no evidence of that, but it sure sounds like OJ didn't come here for any actual medical stuff, or the team would have told us about it.  This is more in the kid's head.  IMO, OJ is homesick.

Juolevi moved to Canada at age 17 and played junior for 2 years in the CHL.  I highly doubt he is homesick at age 21 Alfie...

Didn't Benning already state he was coming to Vancouver for a lower body injury, but not the knee from before?

Do you believe he would blatantly lie about something like that and damage his reputation as an honest man for that?

They would just state he had some personal things to take care of and leave it at that and not be involved in lying for him I would think

If he's back in Utica there's no way they don't know what the issue is. Its been so vague, it makes me wonder if its an infection or something non-hockey related.

If it was a back problem would they have sent him back to Utica with the hope he'd be skating soon? Jim said it wasn't the knee. If it was either you think they'd just bite the bullet & say so.

Backs are complicated & I'm just speculating, so news could obvs come out in an hour & I'm totally wrong. Something seems fishy here & I'm strangely optimistic.

Are you serious?

tell me straight up you think think OJ will be better than MT?

I want the kid to be successful but injuries and his slow development will keep him from being a star

The only reason his development is slow is because of the injuries, if I am correct his play when healthy has always been extremely positive and I believe he'd be on the team right now without those major injuries

Wow that's stretching it Alf, that's a darn wild view of things considering your basing this on not one fact. This guy has been playing in North America for along time now and I would like to think long past being home sick

You are not correct. The year after his draft there were plenty of people who watched him on the daily say his play regressed or at least stagnated. He was put on the second pairing and his scoring didn't progress. People will point out that the team lost key players as an excuse for his scoring but Victor Mete played on the same team and took over top pairing duties while also having his scoring increase.

There have been many warning flags about Juolevi's development without the injuries, they just make it even worse.

Actually people would more accurately report that he was put in mentoring and more defensive, sheltering role to allow Mete to free wheel offensively.
