Not to mention stepping into an intense 'playoff' game. At the very least he'll be able to build off this & be in the NHL mix next season. ^ this. Olli has earned a real chance at making the next years roster with how well he's done in the bubble training camp and now an actual game. 3

I think that's part of where Green said he played a heavier game than expected. I was glad to see that too and once he gets the timing down, I think he would be knocking some guys on their bums. that was a nice play to see. Olli has decent size, that seems to have been forgotten in all the "bust" yap over the last couple of years. 1 2

I.Am.Ironman
I like Fanta's game as a 7th Dman but after seeing Olli last night I'd be willing to give him game 1 to see how he does, regardless of Fanta's status. He would have to get more than 6 minutes and I think he would after playing a solid game last night.

I think I'm fine either way if we face Dallas, although I'm sure Jordie would like a shot against his former team and brother. 1

We are in need of an upgrade on Fanta/Benn and maybe he can be that. His passing and distribution is so elite that he will gel very quickly with this teams high end talent 3 2

Battlemonger
I think Oli makes the team next year as the third left d starter or the 7th defenseman at the very least. 1 1
Rollieo Del Fuego
Oli is who I thought he was ....an elite puck moving D. As his hip gets more mobility in it he will be a complete D. He should be on our 3rd pairing to start the next series and on our 2nd PP Also Big Mac looked great...he needs more playing time as well....! 1 1

Smashian Kassian
They need to try and find a taker for Jordie Benn. Keep Fanta around.
Popular Post LeanBeef
Just realized with Olli playing last night... Horvat, Virtanen, Boeser, Juolevi, Pettersson, Hughes Canucks have one of their first round picks from each yr since 2013 on the roster. crazy difference if you look at how the 5 players before this turned out for Vancouver Gaunce, Jensen, Schroeder, Hodgson, White, Grabner (traded w the 2010 1st pick) 4 1 7

And I've suggested we aim to move him and his cap to gain some space there (with no meaningful/possibly slightly negative return). But failing that, I wouldn't be surprised to see us move on from Stecher and have Benn/Rafferty tandem that right side, 3rd pair and spare slot with Juolevi taking the left. Benn pays bigger, more physical teams, Rafferty the quicker run and gun teams.

Yes the quality of the picks are much higher, although it's comparing a competitive roster with late 1sts versus a bottom team collecting top 10 picks (although we nailed the Boeser late pick as well). Good news is that Podkolzin likely continues the trend. 2 1
